Pokemon GO just gave players a ton of new Pokemon to catch, and it should come as no surprise that fans want to get their hands on the Kalos starters. More specifically than that, Froakie is a highly demanded Pokemon thanks to its final evolution into Greninja, a beloved Pokemon that was further popularized thanks to Ash’s Greninja in the anime.
Unfortunately, there’s no secret to catching a Froakie that will make the process easy or guaranteed, though there are some tricks that Pokemon GO players can employ to increase their likelihoods of finding one. Players interested in catching a Froakie should be sure to keep these things in mind and use them to the best of their ability.
For starters, Froakie is a water type Pokemon, and that tidbit of information will guide the capture process more than anything else. He is also one of several new Kalos region Pokemon in Pokemon GO, so they might be easier to catch now before more Kalos Pokemon are added to the mix.
Froakie can be found it he wild just like any other Pokemon, but as a water type it prefers water habitats as its home. This means players should focus their search in areas with bodies of water such as beaches, lakes, rivers, and the like. Additionally, weather conditions have a chance to affect what type of Pokemon will spawn, so hunting for a Froakie while it’s raining will further increase the player’s odds. Combine both of these by searching near a body of water while it’s raining and it should only be a matter of time before a Froakie shows up.
If that still isn’t working, there is one more way players can get a Froakie on their own. Froakie has a chance to hatch from any 5 Km egg, so players should focus on hatching as many of those as possible. These eggs can also contain the other Kalos starter Pokemon Fennekin and Chespin, which can then be further evolved into their final stages Delphox and Chesnaught. This method may take quite some time, though, and players will need to do a lot of walking around to hatch enough eggs.
Finally, for those players with friends that are both lucky and generous, trading Pokemon is always an option as well. As long as both players are level 10 or above, within 100 meters of each other, and are friends in game, they should be able to swap Pokemon with each other to help fill out the Pokedex.
