The Pokemon GO Sinnoh Throwback Challenge is live in the game, giving players a new set of limited-time Field Research to complete to help them better complete their Sinnoh region Pokedex. As part of the event, Niantic has also released a brand new shiny Pokemon for Pokemon GO players to add to their collection, with this week being perhaps the best opportunity for players to catch it.

Pokemon GO has added shiny Glameow to the growing list of shiny Pokemon that are available in the game. And right now, Glameow is one of the most common Pokemon that Pokemon GO players can find in the wild, meaning that the odds of catching one are far greater than they are any other time. The Pokemon GO Sinnoh Throwback Challenge is available until May 29 at 1pm local time, so anyone wanting to catch shiny Glameow should make a concerted effort to do so this week.

There are multiple ways for Pokemon GO players to get shiny Glameow this week. The easiest way is to simply find Glameow in the wild, but Glameow is also one of the Sinnoh region Pokemon that is hatching out of 7km eggs. Players can also complete the Field Research task to catch three normal-type Pokemon for an encounter with Glameow as well. Neither Glameow nor its evolved form Purugly are featured in raids this week, however.

Catching shiny Glameow is just one of the goals Pokemon GO players have this week. They will also want to complete the Sinnoh Throwback Challenge 2020 limited-time research, as that will give them the chance to catch the legendary Pokemon Cresselia with the special move Grass Knot. If they completed the previous Throwback Challenge tasks along with the Sinnoh Timed Research, then Pokemon GO players will also unlock new Unova-themed Special Research in June.

June will see the debut of Galarian Pokemon in Pokemon GO, which should give fans of the game even more Pokemon to catch and tasks to complete. On top of all that, there’s also the Seedot Community Day to look forward to, so Pokemon GO enthusiasts should have no shortage of things to do in the coming weeks.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
