Pokémon GO How To Find And Then Evolve Petilil

Petilil has made its debut on Pokémon GO. Here’s how to find the grass-type and how to evolve Petilil into Lilligant.

At the time of typing this, the third and final set of timed research building to GO Fest is underway. This week, the challenges Pokémon GO trainers are faced with all revolve around friendship. The tasks include interacting with Buddy Pokémon, and building on the friendships trainers have with others who are on the same quest to catch ’em all.

Completing all nine of this week’s tasks, not including the three Elite tasks that come after, will result in a guaranteed Petilil encounter. Petilil is making its debut in Pokémon GO this week alongside the friendship-themed research. Although it is appearing in the wild and hatching from 5 km eggs, the only way trainers can ensure they get the chance to catch one is by completing all the research.

That won’t come easy, though. While taking a snapshot with your Buddy Pokémon is pretty easy for a third stage research task, the other two won’t come quite as easy. Earning ten hearts with your Buddy is easier said than done, especially for trainers who don’t tend to bother with that feature. Sending ten gifts to friends will be easy for some, but only for trainers who have a lot of friends on Pokémon GO.

Once those tasks are complete, trainers can start their Petilil encounter. Since Petilil’s evolved form Lilligant is also a Gen V Pokémon, it is possible to evolve your newfound Petilil right away. As long as you have the tools to do so, of course. Not only will trainers need to collect 50 Petilil candies before they can turn the Pokémon into a Lilligant, but a Sun Stone will also need to be used for the transformation to take place.

The addition of Petilil and Lilligant to Pokémon GO’s ever-expanding roster brings Gen V another step closer to becoming complete. Just in time too as the tease for the arrival of Gen VI has already begun. That doesn’t mean Gen V will be complete by the time the first wave of Gen VI Pokémon arrives, however. The absence of Kecleon means Niantic still isn’t done with Gen III after all.
