Shiny Meltan is making its return to Pokemon Go. This guide will show players how they can find and capture one in the game. Meltan is one of the most interesting and confusing Pokemon to exist. When a new generation is introduced, a slew of new colorful and powerful Pokemon are added to the series’ overall mythos. Although, Meltan was introduced as part of Pokemon Go and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu. While these games did release as part of the series’ 7th generation, it’s in this weird limbo where Pokemon Go isn’t considered a mainline entry. This is one of the only Pokemon to be introduced outside of a mainline title. Now, its Shiny form is making a return to the game. This guide will show players how they can find their very own.

Only a handful of Pokemon has their Shiny form removed after certain events. Normally, Shiny Pokemon are here to stay as part of the game’s permanent roster. In the case of Meltan and Melmetal, its Shiny form is only added when something special is happening in the game. In this case, players will be able to find a Shiny Meltan as part of the game’s 5th anniversary. Here is how players will be able to encounter a Shiny Meltan.

How To Find (& Catch) Shiny Meltan in Pokemon Go

Shiny Meltan will begin to appear in the game from Tuesday, July 6th to July 15th. This is the window where the game is celebrating its 5th anniversary. Meltan will appear if players have access to the Mystery Box item. To obtain it, players will need to send a Pokemon from Pokemon Go to either Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu, Let’s Go Eevee, or Pokemon Home. This item will exclusively spawn Meltan on the map for an hour. Once the hour is over, players will have to wait 3 days to send another Pokemon to one of these other games to use the box again.

The best way to increase the chances of finding a Shiny Meltan is to use the Mystery Box and focus solely on capturing Meltan. It’s completely up to chance if it will make an appearance. Players will still need 400 candy in order to evolve it into Melmetal so capture as many of these as possible. Its Shiny form will be taken away again once the anniversary celebration is over on the 15th. Don’t miss out on the chance to capture it. It’s unknown when it will return again.
