There’s something to be said about Pokemon GO and its ability to get people up and out into the world. Roaming around for Pokemon can really rack up those steps, and is a fun way to work off some extra calories. Now, trainers can fuse fitness and Pokemon training with the new Adventure Sync system, which links to a phone’s built in fitness app.

The Adventure Sync system has begun to roll out in Pokemon GO, and will be a huge benefit players. It is an optional mode that allows the game to track progress even when the app isn’t open. This means players will be able to earn Buddy Candy or hatch eggs while simply going about their days, and without draining a phone’s battery life.

When Candy is found or an egg is about to hatch, users will receive notifications. Additionally, those who enable the system will receive a weekly fitness report, as well as rewards for reaching certain milestones.
