The briefly delayed Raid Invite feature has arrived in Pokémon GO but is only available to Level 40 trainers for the time being.
Niantic has done everything it possibly can to keep people interested in Pokémon GO throughout the COVID-19 outbreak. Some of the features added to the game over the past few months include the ability to raid remotely, opening up the catchment area of PokéStops, and allowing trainers to compete in the GO Battle League without first having to walk 3 km.
The pandemic might be lessening, at least in some parts of the world, but Niantic shows no sign of reversing any of those features, at least not for the time being. In fact, it is pushing forward and adding more. Certain trainers can now invite friends to raid with them, no matter where they might be in the world.
The raid invite feature was something Niantic promised a few weeks ago but had to delay it for an undisclosed reason. Thankfully, the feature has not been subject to the sort of delay that others have endured in the past. Whatever problems that were holding it up have been ironed out, but it isn’t all good news. Although raid invites are live in-game right now, they are only available to trainers who have reached level 40.
Niantic does this with most new features to make sure there are no bugs that need to be fixed before unleashing that feature on the rest of the world. It doesn’t tend to take too long before Level 40 exclusive features are rolled out to everyone else. Plus, trainers might need to be Level 40 to send a raid invite, but they don’t need to have maxed out their XP in order to receive one.
The inviter can access a Raid either in-person or remotely and invite up to five friends to come help them out. Those friends do not need to be in the immediate vicinity, but they will need a Remote Raid Pass of their own in order to take part. If the whole squad faints, trainers can click on the same invite again to have another go, providing there is enough time left.
