The Pokemon GO Charge Up event is well underway, which means in addition to some special Field Research and other bonuses, there is a new list of event Raid Bosses for trainers to challenge. One of the most exciting additions to the Battle Raid list during the event window is the chance to throw down against Mega Manectric and stock up on some resources for the powerful Mega Evolution.

The Manectric Mega Raid is available now and spans through March 22. That means players still have a nearly a full week to build up a powerful counter roster, team up with some friends, and head out to challenge the powerful Electric-type foe. Considering the strength of this particular Pokemon GO boss, many trainers may want to take some time to revisit their counter roster first.

Manectric is a pure Electric-type, which means that players should focus on taking advantage of its weakness to Ground-types. Luckily Ground-type counters have been frequently used against other popular Raid Bosses, so many trainers should already have a lot of these options in their storage and powered up with the right move sets…

Best Mega Manectric Counters

Garchomp – Mud Shot/Earthquake

Groudon – Mud Shot/Earthquake

Excadrill – Mud Slap/Drill Run

Rhyperior – Mud Slap/Earthquake

Landorus (Incarnate) – Mud Shot/Earth Power

Krookodile – Mud Slap/Earthquake

Golurk – Mud Slap/Earth Power

Mamoswine – Mud Slap/Bulldoze

Gengar (Mega) – Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball

As always, trainers should always keep in mind that the list presented represents the best counters and move sets based on the current meta game. It’s not the end of the world if any trainers can’t pull together a roster of that quality though. The main thing to keep in mind is that the selected roster should focus on using the best Ground-type Pokemon available to take advantage of the Electric-types weaknesses.

If trainers need help pulling together a respectable roster, it’s likely worth using some Candy or TMs to power up the best Ground-types in their storage and get them equipped with the best move sets. Ground-type counters are relevant very frequently in the PvE metagame, so the investment will likely be put to good use repeatedly in the future as trainers continue completing other Legenday and Mega Battle Raids.

Over the next week or so players should continue to learn a lot more about what other events are on the way throughout the Season of Legends. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
