Pokemon GO Minccino Limited Research Start Time and Details

The latest Pokemon GO event begins today, February 2. This event surrounds the adorable Pokemon Minccino and its equally adorable evolved form Cinccino. The two Normal-type Pokemon are caught up in Pokemon GO’s latest Limited Research event. It will be both Pokemons’ first appearance in Pokemon GO, care of the slow rollout of Generation 5 Unova Pokemon. To participate in the event, Pokemon GO players will have to set their watch for 2:00 pm local time. The event will end at 5:00 pm local time.

Between 2:00 and 5:00 pm local time, the Minccino Limited Research event will grant player a series of boons limited to those three hours. The biggest part of the event is, of course, the ability to catch Minccino. But there are several other ongoing benefits for players during the event. These include Field Research tasks that reward encounters with Minccino, increased Wild spawn rates for over a dozen Lunar New Year Year of the Rat-themed Pokemon, and an increased Minccino hatch rate from 5km eggs.

Perhaps the biggest opportunity of the Minccino Limited Research event will be the availability of Shiny Minccino. This version of Minccino is pink instead of its standard grey, while its evolution is brown with pink highlights in its ears. Shiny Minccino will still be a rare encounter, but there will be no better opportunity to find them than during the event. After the event, Minccino and its Shiny counterpart will still be available in 5km eggs.

The Minccino Limited research event is a part of Pokemon GO’s ongoing Lunar New Year event, though it’s not the entirety of it. That’s why it will have increased spawn rates for Year of the Rate Pokemon, which will include Rattata, Raticate, Pikachu, Sandshrew, both Nidoran male and female, Sentret, Marill, Zigzagoon, Plusle, Minun, Bidoof, and Patrat. Other boons for the bigger Lunar New Year event include increased spawn rates for red Pokemon, including Red Gyrados, and Darumaka debuting in 7km eggs.

Pokemon GO players will have just 3 hours to make the most of today’s Minccino Limited Research event. The event runs from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the player’s local time zone. After the event is over, all benefits will end, except that Minccino will still be available in 5km eggs. The bigger Lunar New Year event in Pokemon Go, which adds the new Pokemon Darumaka, is ongoing and will last until Monday, February 3, at 1:00 pm PST.

Pokemon Go is available now on iOS and Android devices.
