Pokemon GO Releases Two More Shiny Pokemon for Halloween

Pokemon GO’s collection of shiny Pokemon continues to grow. Pokemon GO fans around the world have reported sightings of shiny Shuppets and Banettes out in the wild, meaning all five of the third generation ghost-type Pokemon added to the game as part of its Halloween event now have shiny variants.

Since Duskull, Dusclops, and Sableye already had shiny variants in the game, it’s not surprising that Shuppet and Banette have joined them. Of course, actually finding a shiny Shuppet and Banette will be easier said than done, and the rarity of these shiny ghost Pokemon will make them that much more desirable for Pokemon GO fans.

Besides the five shiny ghost-type Pokemon that have been added to Pokemon GO as part of its annual Halloween event, Niantic has introduced a few other shiny Pokemon to the game in the past. The first shiny was Magikarp, a Pokemon that Niantic seems to have a sort of affinity for, as well as its evolved form, Gyarados. Some time after that, shiny versions of Pichu, Pikachu, and Raichu were also added, bringing the total number of shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO up to 10.

With 10 shiny Pokemon out in the wild, Pokemon GO players have their hands full when it comes to catching them all. However, some of the more extreme Pokemon GO players may have already caught all the shiny Pokemon in the game, and may be wondering when more will be added. At this point, though, that’s really hard to say.

Niantic has been slow to introduce shiny Pokemon, and it’s safe to say that few fans expected shiny Sableye or any of the other gen 3 ghost-types to be added. However, perhaps this is an indication that Niantic will start adding more shiny Pokemon to the game at the same time as it is running special events, perhaps as a way to convince even more lapsed players to return.

If that’s the case, then Pokemon GO fans likely have more shiny Pokemon to look forward to this coming Christmas. Of course, that’s just speculation at this time, and fans should wait for an official announcement from Niantic before they get too excited.

Pokemon GO is available now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
