Pokemon GO Shiny Diglett Could Be Coming Soon

Pokemon GO has been adding new shiny Pokemon to the game on a consistent basis, with each Community Day and special event introducing new shiny Pokemon to the popular mobile game. While Pokemon GO fans can count on April 2019’s Community Day event bringing a new family of shiny Pokemon, it looks like at least a few other shiny Pokemon could be added to the game next month as well.

Niantic has announced its plans for Earth Day 2019, and those plans include the addition of shiny Diglett. However, whether or not shiny Diglett (and therefore, shiny Dugtrio, and like the shiny Alolan forms as well) is added to Pokemon GO in April depends on how many people participate in the Earth Day festivities.

Niantic is partnering with Playmob and 15 nonprofit companies to host Earth Day events around the globe, focusing on volunteer efforts to clean up the environment. These events will take place from April 13 to April 28, and the number of participants will help Pokemon GO players unlock special bonuses.

2,000 Players

  • Increased spawn rate of ground-type Pokemon

If 2,000 players participate in the Pokemon GO Earth Day 2019 festivities, then players will enjoy increased spawn rates for ground-type Pokemon while the event is live.

5,000 Players

  • Increased spawn rate of ground-type Pokemon
  • Shiny Diglett

5,000 players will unlock shiny Diglett, but the rarity of shiny Diglett has yet to be revealed. It’s possible shiny Diglett will be easy to catch, like shiny Pokemon are during Community Day events, or it’s possible that it will still be pretty tough for Pokemon GO players to find out in the wild. However, with the spawn rate of ground-type Pokemon increased, one should still have a much better chance of catching shiny Diglett during the Earth Day 2019 event than they usually would.

7,000 Players

  • Increased spawn rate of ground-type Pokemon
  • Shiny Diglett
  • Groudon in legendary raids
  • 2x Stardust for event Pokemon
  • 2x Candy for event Pokemon

At 7,000 players is when the Pokemon GO Earth Day events get really interesting. Not only will players have the chance to catch shiny Diglett, but they will also be able to battle the legendary Pokemon Groudon in raids. Additionally, they will get double stardust and candy for event Pokemon, meaning players should be able to fill up their Pokedex with any ground-type Pokemon they’re still missing.

The rewards will be active for 48 hours after the end of the Earth Day festivities, so Pokemon GO players should be able to enjoy them until the end of April. Whether or not any other bonuses or additional special events will be added as part of the festivities remains to be seen, but Niantic should share more information next month.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
