Pokemon GO players barely have a chance to catch their breath in between events this summer. The latest Battle Raid evening event wrapped up a few hours ago, but it’s already time to start planning for this weekend’s Mudkip-themed July Community Day event. To help build some hype for the festivities, Niantic just confirmed an exclusive move that is going to make PvP and PvE players very excited.

Although Swampert may not traditionally have been a very PvE relevant Pokemon for the metagame, Hydro Cannon really makes the Water/Ground-type a beast in Pokemon GO. It’s unique pairing gives it just one serious vulnerability (Grass-types), but aside from that it is a powerhouse. Fire- and Rock-types beware.

As always, players who want to secure the exclusive move need to actually get out and play during the July Community Day hours. Be sure to evolve your Mudkip up to a Swapert within the designated window of time to secure Hydro Cannon. If you have the Candy, we recommend building a whole squad during the event. Ideally, trainers can find at least one 100% IV Mudkip.

PvE players aren’t the only ones who are getting a good deal this Community Day, though. Get ready for Swapert to start dominating the PvP scene thanks to this moveset combined with its great type combination. Just keep an eye out for Grass-type moves and Swapert should help lead many battles to victory in the coming weeks.

As soon as the Mudkip event comes and goes this weekend, we’ll likely get the first hints about what is in store for the August Community Day. Players have had a good run of very useful Pokemon and exclusive moves lately, so hopefully August continues that trend.

Be sure to check back for more Pokemon GO news, updates, and strategy guides in the coming days. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
