The first half of the Pokemon GO Power Plant event was full of exciting bonuses and increased spawns and the second half is all set to be full of epic battles. As expected, Team GO Rocket is back and trainers are going to have to battle grunts and team leaders throughout the week to rescue Shadow Pokemon.
The Team GO Rocket Strikes surprise event is taking over Pokemon GO during the final week of the month to wrap up the January 2022 calendar of events. As some players were expecting, the PvE focused activities bring some new lineups to Team GO Rocket and offer some exciting bonuses in addition to the Shadow Pokemon encounters that trainers will be able to earn if they are successful in battle.
The new activities are live now and trainers will have until January 30 to take advantage of the bonuses and increased Rocket activity sightings. One particularly exciting bonus is that the event will offer players the chance to TM Frustration off of Shadow Pokémon. This opens up a great new set of skills and can help players make these Pokemon even more powerful than usual…

His suspicions are confirmed after he finds a crumpled piece of paper detailing some of Team GO Rocket’s plans for a take-over! - Team GO Rocket Strikes begins on Monday, January 24, 2022, at 12:00 a.m. local time
- Ends on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. local time

- More frequent GO Rocket stops and balloons
- The ability to TM Frustration off your Shadow Pokémon
- Sierra, Cliff and Arlo will be using different Shadow Pokémon
- New Shadow Pokémon available from Team GO Rocket grunts
The grunts and bosses are entering these fights with some tough new lineups, so trainers are going to need to revisit their counter rosters and prepare some new lineups to use throughout the event. Be sure to check back in the very near future for updated counter lists for Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo considering the Rocket Strike lineup changes. Shadow Pokemon are powerful creatures with a ton of potential, so trainers won’t want to miss these opportunities to earn a ton of extra encounters with them and decide which ones to Purify and which ones to keep in Shadow form.
