Pokemon Go will have tons of events dedicated to several Pokemon from the Kalos region. They were first introduced into the game several months ago and as the weeks have gone by, Niantic continues to slowly drop new ones into the mix. Now, they are taking a massive leap by introducing the main title legendary Pokemon Xerneas and Yveltal. Similar to all the other legendary Pokemon from before, players will need to defeat it as part of a Raid Battle. This guide will show players the best possible counters for Xerneas.

Xerneas will be introduced as part of the Luminous Legends X event. This event will take place from Tuesday, May 4, 2021, to Monday, May 17, 2021. Currently, the three genie Pokemon from the Unova region are occupying the Raid Battles. Legendary Pokemon are a part of the 5-star raid battles which are amongst the most challenging battles in the game. Players will want to quickly defeat and capture this Pokemon before it is removed from the raid battle rotation for Yveltal. Here are the best counters to bring along against Xerneas.

The Best Raid Counters for Xerneas in Pokemon Go

Xerneas is a mono-Fairy type Pokemon meaning that it has a massive weakness to Poison and Steel-type moves. Here are some of the best Pokemon to bring along for this battle.

  • Mega Gengar: Lick and Sludge Bomb.
  • Metagross: Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash.
  • Mega Beedrill: Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb.
  • Dialga: Metal Claw and Iron Head.
  • Jirachi: Charge Beam and Doom Desire.
  • Excadrill: Metal Claw and Iron Head.

Overall, players should aim to have a group of at least 6 other players participates in this battle. Anything less will make it extremely challenging to bring down. Make sure to jump on this event when it begins on May 4th to capitalize on the number of players who are involved. Everyone wants to get the new Pokemon as early as possible.

Once it’s defeated, the player will then need to capture it. Legendary Pokemon have a fairly low catch rate so make sure to use a Golden or regular Razz Berry with every throw to increase your chances. Not only that but make sure to wait until its attack animation is done to throw the ball. Hopefully, the odds will be in your favor and Xerneas will join your collection.
