Pokémon GO The Best Zekrom Counters

The second Pokémon from the Tao Trio, Zekrom has arrived in Pokémon GO. Here are some tips for taking down the legendary Pokémon.

There has never been a better time to Raid in Pokémon GO than right now. That’s due to the fact one of the many changes ushered in by Niantic has been the introduction of Remote Raid Passes. Trainers who play the game alone no longer have to hope that someone will show up to help them take down a five-star raid.

The radius has been significantly upped by the ability to raid from home, making it less likely that no one else will be in a raid to lend a hand. That’s why the arrival of the Unova region’s Tao Trio couldn’t have been timed more perfectly. Reshiram was the first of the three legendary Pokémon to call five-star raids home, and now it’s Zekrom’s turn.

Even with help from others, Zekrom will be a tricky Pokémon to take down and catch, hence it being classified as a five-star raid. The Tao Trio member is a Dragon and Electric-type, which makes it weak against Ground, Fairy, Ice, and other Dragon-types. Since any Dragon-types used against Zekrom will also be weak against the legendary Pokémon, we’d recommend omitting them from your line-up if possible.

As for which Pokémon should be included in those all-important line-ups, there are quite a few that should perform well for trainers. High-powered Gardevoir, Groudon, Rayquaza, Palkia, Weavile, Rhyperior, Mamoswine, Togekiss, and Garchomp are all strong choices. Since there are so many Pokémon that can effectively counter Zekrom, choose carefully when entering the raid. If you have all of the Pokémon listed above, determine which will fare best in a battle like this one.

Trainers don’t need to wait for the arrival of Zekrom as the Pokémon should be appearing in five-star raids right now. Zekrom’s stay will last until 1 pm PDT on Tuesday, July 1, 2020. At that point, although this has not yet been confirmed by Niantic, it is expected that Zekrom will be replaced by the final member of the Tao Trio to be added to Pokémon GO, Kyurem.
