Pokemon GO Third Anniversary Event Details and Date Announced

Niantic’s popular mobile game, Pokemon GO, has settled into a consistent schedule of offering new content to its players through special events like Adventure Week 2019. This weekend marks a very special and important time for Pokemon GO as it’s getting ready to celebrate its third anniversary. To prepare players for what’s to come, the developer has offered new details and information on the new mini-events kicking off on June 28.

Unique to this year’s celebration is the fact that Niantic has created three new mini-events for the Pokemon GO community to take part in. Starting on June 28 at 1pm PDT, eight shiny Alolan Pokemon have a higher chance of being encountered including Rattata, Sandshrew, Vulpix, Diglett, Meowth, Geodude, Grimer, and Exeggutor. The other part to this first mini-event comes to the style shop, which will feature avatar items based on the team leaders’ personal styles.

Also kicking off on June 28 and running until July 6 is the second mini-event known as Party Hat Photobombs. Once per day, players have a chance to encounter a Pikachu wearing a party hat when taking a GO Snapshot photo. Party hat Pikachu and Party hat Pichu will also be available to hatch from 7 km eggs during this event.

Finally, the final mini-event centers on Jump-Starts, Trading, and Raids. Complete Special Research from June 28 to September 2 to earn unique and helpful rewards for players who want to catch up or are just getting started. These research opportunities are only available for players at level 10 or higher. Trading Pokemon during this period will now cost 25% less stardust and deal extra damage to raid bosses as well as earn bonus Premier Balls when playing with friends.
