Pokemon GO to Add New Gen 4 Evolutions Soon

Now that Niantic’s mobile ARG Pokemon GO has added some gen 4 Pokemon, several diehard fans are likely ready for the next step in evolution. In fact, some popular Pokemon such as Electabuzz, Magmar, and Rhydon all get new evolutions in the Sinnoh region, which will all seemingly evolve via the recently discovered Sinnoh Stone. Despite that discovery, we still had no clue as to when these evolutions would come to the game, but thanks to the game’s official monthly newsletter, we do now.

Although we do not know an exact date for the launch of these gen 4 evolutions, we do know that it will be coming soon. In the aforementioned Pokemon GO newsletter, Niantic officially addresses the Sinnoh evolutions for the first time, revealing that players should be saving their candy. Also, because it comes from the monthly update, it seems likely that these evolutions could start appearing by the end of this month.

Nevertheless, there are over 20 evolutions first introduced in the Sinnoh region. Of course, this is only conjecture, but it seems likely that Niantic would begin with gen 1 Pokemon that got a gen 4 evolution first. If so, then that potentially means Magnezone, Rhyperior, Electivire, Magmortar, Tangrowth, Lickilicky, Porygon-Z, Glaceon, and Leafeon (or some combination thereof) could be introduced with the first wave of evolutions. It’s also worth mentioning that all gen 4 evolutions in Pokemon GO are not forward evolutions but also pre-evolutions. Yes, that means new egg hatches could potentially come as a result, as Snorlax, Mr. Mime, and Chansey all have a pre-evolutions introduced in gen 4: Munchlax, Mime Jr., and Happiny, respectively. Check out all the new evolutions below:

While much of this is speculation, it is a solid confirmation from Niantic that something related to these Pokemon is coming to the game relatively soon. Hopefully, more is learned in the coming days, but in the meantime, players can be completing their field research to get their hands on Shedninja, a gen 3 Pokemon appearing in the game for the first time.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions for Android and iOS devices.
