Pokemon GO Ursaring Raid Counters For Mountains of Power Event

Pokemon GO’s Mountains of Power event is officially underway and trainers have a lot to do. In addition to special bonuses, spawns, and activities to complete – there are also some exciting Battle Raid bosses popping up throughout the Season of Heritage January event. Each boss brings its own set of strengths and weaknesses to the fight, so Battle Raid fans need to prepare all of their best counters for each fight.

Among the Mounts of Power Battle Raid bosses are some of the January Legendary and Mega Pokemon like Heatran and Mega Aerodacytl. There is also some excitement at the lower Pokemon GO Battle Raid tiers though. For one, Ursaring is returning to the Battle Raid rotation and offering players a chance to battle and catch the popular Normal-type. There will even be a chance that the encounter could be shiny.

Ursaring is a Normal-type Pokemon, which means it’s not going to be too challenging for the average player to pull together a powerful counter roster to throw at the Tier 3 boss. The strategy for this one is as simple as it gets: Use Fighting-type Pokemon and moves only. Fighting-type is the single weakness to Ursaring, so players are going to want to search their Pokemon storage for the best fighters they’ve managed to pick up over the years. The use of Mega or Shadow Pokemon will increase damage output, but with a Tier 3 Battle Raid, the challenge may not be worth burning through Mega Candy unless players have a massive excess for some reason.

Ursaring Counters (Mountains of Power Event)

  • Machamp – Counter/Dynamic Punch
  • Hariyama – Counter/Dynamic Punch
  • Lucario – Couter/Aura Sphere
  • Conkeldurr – Counter/Dynamic Punch
  • Poliwrath – Rock Smash/Dynamic Punch

As always, it’s helpful for trainers to remember that this Battle Raid can still be won even if they don’t have the exact counters listed above. The important thing is to just recognize the boss’ weakness and stick to that strategy. When it comes to Ursaring, that means identifying the best Fighting-type Pokemon available and putting them to good use. It is well worth burning through some Candy and TMs to get those Pokemon powered up and equipped with the recommended move sets, as well.

At this tier, group size still matters, but players don’t need to bring a ton to the table. Small groups of three average level players should still be able to get a victory in this level Battle Raid. Taking extra friends certainly won’t hurt anything though, especially if they are a member of the same team and add to the damage bonus.

Players should learn much more about exact details of other activities throughout the early days of the Season of Heritage. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
