Pokémon GO Which January 2020 Spawns You Should Raise Up

Niantic surprised Pokémon GO players with a new wave of fifth generation Pokémon on January 10, 2020. This wave is turning out to be a significant addition to the game for two reasons: a new mechanic and game-changing new Pokémon. The new mechanic is trade evolutions. This completely eliminates the candy cost for evolving certain Pokémon. That’s a big deal on its own, but that’s for another guide to explore. In fact, we did just that in the link below. But this time we’re going to take a look at how the new Pokémon fare in battle.

The new wave adds three new Pokémon that franchise fans and Pokémon GO analysts have been waiting for – Haxorus, Conkeldurr, and Archeops. Based on their stats in the main games, predicted movesets, and general cool factor, these three will probably be seeing quite a bit of Candy fed to them. But is it worth it to put valuable resources into powering them up? Let’s break them down one-by-one and find out.

Haxorus

Dragon-types are always popular for their rarity and pure power. Haxorus is no exception in the main games. Unfortunately for fans of the axe-faced dragon, it’s not the best of its class in GO. For reference, hadcore Pokémon GO fans found a way to calculate each Pokémon’s damage output based on its stats and available moves. Since the mobile game is all about tapping to rack up damage as fast as possible, damage per second (DPS) rules in GO. It turns out DPS sets Haxorus back a little.

Rayquaza is still king of Pokémon GO dragons, with Salamence being the best non-legendary. That said, Haxorus comes in seventh place, so it’s not terrible. It’s just not the most optimal. The average player could still use Haxorus and make a decent contribution to raid battles.

Conkeldurr

Conkeldurr may have one of the less popular designs among Pokémon fans, but it will be GO’s new Fighting-type overlord. It comes in second place for Fighting DPS, with only the super-rare Lucario beating it out. Since Conkeldurr’s first form, Timburr, can be found in raids, it will be way easier to farm than Lucario. Immense power and fairly easy to hunt? Expect to see a lot of these guys in raid parties. You should also seriously consider maxing one out for your own team.

Archeops

Archeops was supposed to be amazing. It has a crazy high attack stat. Again, since Pokémon GO is all about DPS, high attack can take a Pokémon far. Archeops was predicted to be both a Rock and Flying-type MVP. Unfortunately, it was saddled with some awful moves. It still places seventh for Rock-type attackers. But it’s behind Tyranitar and Rhydon, Pokémon everyone has raised up by now. As for Flying-type, it sits behind the legendary birds and Dragonite. Poor Archeops just came too late to the party to make a difference. Stick to giving Rare Candies to your Moltres.
