Pokémon Gos June Community Day Brings Shiny Beedrill & Weedle

June’s Community Day for Pokémon GO will feature some shiny Gen I insects.

The interactive mobile Pokémon game, Pokémon GO, has been doing their best to keep people entertained and engaged during quarantine. These monthly Community Days put special focus on certain creatures for an entire day, releasing shiny versions and those with a special skill set into the wild. These Community Days are often the only way to get a shiny version of that featured Pokémon and those caught during their day are more powerful.

The June Community Day will give Weedle, and its evolutionary chain, the spotlight. Beginning at 11 in the morning and lasting through the evening until 5 on June 20th these bugs will be out and about in force. The spawn rate for Weedle will be even higher than normal during this window and any Weedle or Kakuna fully evolved into a Beedrill will learn Drill Run. Drill Run is a Ground-type attack, which makes for a great secret weapon when paired with the bug-eyed menace’s Poison- Bug-type combo. Luckily, Weedle’s evolution is incredibly easy to complete even without an influx of spawns, which means that trainers could farm their very own swarm with ease.

Catching bugs all day doesn’t guarantee that trainers will be able to catch a shiny, but this will be the debut moment for this Gen I pest to have a shiny form released in the mobile game. There are also a few more perks to go along with this late June event. A June Community Day bundle will be available for purchase in the game’s store, this bundle will incluse three Incense and Star Pieces each, 30 Ultra Balls, and an Elite Charged TM. There will be a bonus on Stardust collection as well, catches will earn player three times the amount as a normal day.

While bugs may gross and not everyone’s favorite, in or out of the Pokémon universe, this Community Day will definitely have some great payoffs. Even if adding a giant murder hornet to the battle roster isn’t part of the game plan for most trainers there is plenty of fun to be had and swag to be scored come June 20th.
