The highly anticipated Pokémon Home, Nintendo’s new cloud system that allows you to gather all of your Pokémon in one place, is officially available on the Nintendo eShop. The platform was expected to release some time this month, but it looks like that date has come a bit sooner than expected. The Pokémon Home era has officially begun.

Once you connect Pokémon Home to your Nintendo Switch and mobile device, you can access all of your Pokémon boxes in one place. Although the mobile application hasn’t been released on the Apple AppStore just yet, we can only assume that it’s only a matter of days before both it comes to every planned platform.

After Pokémon Home sees its release on every platform, it will allow you to connect Pokémon across Sword & Shield and Let’s Go! Pikachu & Eevee, and will be compatibile with the 3DS’ Pokémon Bank software. Pokémon GO compatibility is expected to come some time after launch, although swapping Pokémon between GO and the Switch games will certainly be a popular feature.

With the announcements of Pokémon Home and Pokémon Sleep, it’s clear that Nintendo is hoping to create a platform where Pokémon can become more involved in the day to day life of fans. Beginning with the launch of Pokémon GO in 2017, it became clear that we would start seeing Pokémon in more places than just handheld games and trading cards.

One can even make an argument that Pokémon is stronger today than it has ever been before, especially considering what the future might hold. With the immense success of Pokémon GO, as well as the fact that Sword & Shield very quickly became some of the fastest selling games on the Nintendo Switch, it’s clear that the franchise’s massive market isn’t going anywhere.

Now, with new features like Home and Sleep that take Pokémon even further, one can only imagine where the franchise might be a few years from now. With various competitive, scenes, mobile apps, games, cards, collectibles, shows, and movies, it’s very unlikely that the ultra popular franchise will be heading anywhere soon.
