Pokémon Home Makes Trading Easier But Only For A Limited Time

Pokémon Home users can now trade online with friends who have the storage system, but act now, as the feature won’t be around for long.

Earlier this year, Nintendo launched Pokémon Home on Switch and mobile devices – a place in which players of multiple Pokémon games can store their monsters, and even trade them between different titles on different platforms. Home isn’t a game in and of itself per se, but there are challenges to complete, and it’s easy to lose an entire afternoon to it.

Home’s mobile version underwent its biggest update so far last week in preparation for Sword and Shield’s Isle of Armor. “Battle Data” has now been added which allows users to check out how they compare with others in ranked battles and competitions. The update has also fixed multiple bugs, but most exciting of all, users can now trade with their friends without needing to be in the same room.

Before now, there have been four ways to trade Pokémon in Home. Wonder Box, GTS, Room Trade, and Friend Trade. With that last one, as highlighted above, the friend with which a user wants to trade with must be in the immediate vicinity. However, as revealed via the latest mobile update’s patch notes, that is no longer a caveat.

The notes read, “To celebrate this update, trading Pokémon in Pokémon HOME will be enhanced for a limited time!” That means no matter where a friend is in the world, Home users can trade Pokémon with them right now. A handy reminder at this point: Home does not automatically sync up with the friend list on your Switch, so need to be added again within Home should users wish to trade with them.

The only troubling part of this news is that the feature has only been added for a “limited time.” Considering how difficult it is to complete Home’s Pokédex in its entirety, the ability to trade with friends no matter where they are would be a massive help. With that in mind, get those trades done as soon as you can, as the end date of this celebratory feature has not been revealed at this point.
