Throughout the Pokemon anime, Ash Ketchum has explored many regions on his journey to become the greatest Pokemon Master. While he has traveled, the young Pokemon trainer has caught various different creatures and created different teams depending on the region he’s currently exploring. One of these older teams will be once again making an appearance in the show to the delight of many fans.
While Ash always has his trusty Pikachu by his side, the rest of his Pokemon companions change dramatically depending on where he is on his adventures. When traveling to certain regions for the first time, Ash would leave the team of Pokemon that he used in the previous region before setting off alone with Pikachu in order to start fresh. However, it seems that Ash will be calling on some of his old friends from the Alola region in an upcoming episode of Pokemon Journeys.
In a recent preview for an episode that will be coming soon, Ash is pictured alongside many of his companions that fought behind him when he was traveling through the Alola region. Ash’s main team in that region consisted of Lycanroc (Dusk Form), Rowlet, Melmetal, and Incineroar. In the preview, they can be seen alongside Pikachu embracing Ash, excited expressions on their faces. While fans aren’t sure of what the episode’s complete story entails, many are eager to see some of their favorite Pokemon in action again.
Some Pokemon fans are hoping that that the inclusion of this previous generation team signals that other teams that Ash has used in the past may also be brought back in future episodes of Pokemon Journeys. Some fans are theorizing that Ash may even bring one of his Alolan Pokemon to his latest team, but neither of these theories have been confirmed for the anime. However, Pokemon Journeys has shown itself to be more adventurous and straying from some of the expectations that the previous seasons have set, so it’s not exactly clear if these theories would be out of character or unreasonable for the series to do.
Pokemon Journeys has been trying new things and bringing new Pokemon to Ash’s team like Riolu, who fans have been hoping to see travel with Ash for some time now. After teasing an evolution from Pikachu in a recent episode, it will be curious to see what else the series will have in store for its fans in the future.
