Pokémon Legends: Arceus dropped its final trailer, providing players with another brief overview of the game in preparation for their grand journey.

The trailer, which consists of both new and old footage, quickly dissects how trainers will be spending their time exploring the Hisuian region. The footage initially highlights what appears to be a grand temple covered with snow before cutting to actual gameplay of hunting and battling wild Pokémon. Several cutscenes highlighting the game’s cast of colorful characters are spliced in to provide viewers with some context for Legends: Arceus’ narrative before cutting back to the heart-pounding action, including what appears to be challenging fights against a gigantic Kleavor and Steelix. It’s worth noting that the recently released trailer is only available in Japanese, suggesting that an English version will likely arrive in the near future.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus marks a significant deviation from GameFreak’s mainline role-playing franchise. Players will be set free to roam the semi-open world of the Hisuian region, tasked with completing the world’s first true Pokédex. To do this, they will need to study and track elusive wild beasts known only as Pokémon. Set in a time when humans were still wary of the powerful beasts prowling the land, players will likely need to form unique bonds with their companions, revealing that people and Pokémon can live together in harmony.

In order to better research these strange animals, trainers will need to observe them from afar before tossing an experimental capturing device known as a Pokéball. From here, Pokémon can then be trained to battle enemies, leveling up and gaining new moves in the process. Legends: Arceus features a hybrid combat system that allows players to engage in traditional turn-based battles or dynamic real-time conflicts that require sharp reflexes and a tight aim.

When not fighting with Pokémon, players will be able to use their trusted companions to better traverse the environment. Previous trailers have confirmed that trainers can dash across sweeping fields on the back of Wrydeer, take to the skies with the help of Braviary or dash through large bodies of water on the back of Basculegion. Several other regional variants are confirmed to appear in the game but it’s currently unknown whether they can be used to travel the world.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on Jan. 28.
