Pokemon Legends Arceus Releases Art for Newly Revealed Characters

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a bold new experiment in the Pokemon franchise, putting players into an open world full of new ways to interact with the cute and awesome creatures. New evolutions and forms are present, as are old legendaries and mythics like Darkrai.

There are still a lot of things players don’t know about Pokemon Legends: Arceus for certain, including the role the legendary creator Pokemon will play in the story proper. More details are constantly forthcoming though, including the recent reveal of two rival clans inhabbiting the region: the Diamond and Pearl clans. And with these clans comes some good looking new artwork.

The latest trailer for Pokemon Legends: Arceus revealed the Diamond and Pearl clans, each of which seems to have a different approach to interacting with wild Pokemon. Each one is governed by a distinct individual, and this new artwork is of both. Adaman is the leader of the Diamond clan, and is more reckless in his approach to dealing with Pokemon. Whether or not this will make him the villain of the game remains to be seen, but it’s certainly a trait shared by Team leaders in the past.

The leader of the Pearl clan is in every way a contrast to the tall, masculine, reckless Adaman: the petit, cautious girl Irida. Her design sports an outfit with an impressive train and a noticably asymmetrical number of adorning bangles. Most notable perhaps are her flute and expression. Footage shows Irida playing her flute around wild Pokemon, possibly to calm them down. The battle theme for Pokemon Legends: Arceus was revealed recently, but it’s likely special battles would get their own, and perhaps Irida’s flute will feature in a battle against her.

Of course, more than just the clan leaders made appearances. Also of note were two Ginkgo Guild merchants, each with their own distinct look. Ginter is a more weathered soul, clearly having been around the block when it comes to the area. He’s the one who’s most likely to stick around and peddle wares throughout Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ entire length.

Volo is a younger merchant, and in contrast to Ginter, seems a bit more adventurous and mischievious. Whether one of them or some other source will give players their early purchase bonuses for Pokemon Legends: Arceus remains to be seen, but it’s possible that Volo at least will have a bigger role to play.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus launches January 28, 2022, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
