Just as it is in any other Pokemon game, choosing the right starter Pokemon can be incredibly important in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, though so too can getting one that has the right nature. For those unaware, a Pokemon’s nature affects how its stats grow as it levels up, meaning that players can effectively develop their Pokemon to either emphasize its strengths or mask one of its weaknesses. All that it takes to do so is a little bit of time and patience.
Finding the right nature in a wild Pokemon can sometimes be a bit of a nightmare, but, thanks to soft-resetting, doing so with a Legendary or starter Pokemon is a little more straightforward. Players simply need to keep resetting until they get the nature that they want, which, given how much use they’re likely to get out of these fixed-spawn Pokemon, can have a huge impact on their Pokemon Legends: Arceus experience.
How Do Natures Work in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?
Much like other mainline Pokemon games, a Pokemon’s nature in Pokemon Legends: Arceus will dictate how its stats increase as it starts to level up. Neutral natures like Hardy, Docile, Serious, Bashful, and Quirky will see the Pokemon grow according to its base stats. The other 20 natures, however, will lead to one stat ultimately being 10% higher than it would otherwise be, though this does come at the expense of one of the others being 10% lower.
Natures can therefore be used in many different ways, though most players tend to choose one that increases their Pokemon’s strongest stat while simultaneously decreasing its lowest. That said though, there are certain situations where a player may wish to choose a nature that makes their Pokemon a little more balanced or one that raises its Speed stat in order to increase the chances of it acting first in battle.
What is the the Best Nature for Rowlet in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?
When choosing the best nature for their starter Pokemon in Legends: Arceus, players should consider how it will impact its final stage evolution rather than its base form. With this in mind, little Rowlet will eventually grow into a Hisuian Decidueye, which has a 112 Attack stat and 95 for both its Special and Physical Defense stats.
Adamant is the best nature for Rowlet, as most players will prefer to focus on one type of attack rather than both. At just 60 though, Hisuian Decidueye’s Speed stat is incredibly low and so is also an ideal candidate for being decreased. Some may actually opt to inflate its Speed stat instead, but, even with this slight increase, their Hisuian Decidueye will still be acting second more often than not.
What is the Best Nature for Cyndaquil in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?
Upon reaching Level 36, Cyndaquil will have evolved into Hisuian Typhlosion, a Fire / Ghost-type Pokemon with an impressively high Special Attack stat of 119. Besides HP, which is unaffected by nature, its lowest stat is Defense at 78, while at 95, its Speed stat sits agonizingly close to 100. The rest of its stats are solid, so players should focus on boosting either Special Attack or Speed.
A Mild nature is the best choice for Cyndaquil, as this will increase its highest stat while decreasing its lowest. The latter may seem counter-intuitive to some, but, as the decrease is based on percentage, choosing the lowest stat to take the hit effectively leads to the smallest possible loss. Alternatively, players could improve the Pokemon’s speed, as breaking the 100 mark can actually make a pretty big difference.
What is the Best Nature for Oshawott in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?
Oshawott will evolve into Dewott at Level 17, which, in turn, will become Hisuian Samurott upon reaching Level 36. Unlike Hisuian Decidueye, which has a much better Attack stat than Special Attack, Hisuian Samurott’s offensive stats are a lot more balanced, with the two sitting at 108 and 100 respectively. Its 85 speed is a little on the low side, although is much higher than its 65 Special Defense stat.
With all this in mind, the best nature for Oshawott is Naughty, though some may opt to protect its already low Special Defense stat at the expense of Special Attack. Alternatively, players may decide that they’d rather use Hisuian Decidueye as a special attacker rather than a physical one, in which case they’ll want a Modest or Rash nature for their Oshawott instead.
