Pokémon Legends Trailer Hints Sinnoh Is Another Name For Arceus

The latest trailer for Pokémon Legends: Arceus featured some strange dialogue that hints that Arceus was once referred to as Sinnoh, which would later become the name for the Hisui region. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is set in Hisui, which is the ancient name for the Sinnoh region from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It’s unclear when the name of the region changed, but many fans assume that it will happen at the end of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, possibly at a moment when humans and wild Pokémon start living side by side.

Arceus is the closest thing the Pokémon world has to a god. It’s said to be a creator deity, with legends saying that it formed the Sinnoh region, and possibly the entire universe. The fact that Arceus is still a Pokémon means that it’s susceptible to a Master Ball, which means a young child can easily acquire the might of a god. The Pokémon world isn’t known for its religious fervor, so it’s unclear if there is a faith based around Arceus in the present day, or if people just treat it as a myth.

Arceus will soon be the focus of a mainline Pokémon game, as it will appear in Pokémon Legends: Arceus on Nintendo Switch. There’s a chance that it might appear under a name that players were unaware of, yet it’s a name that will be familiar to Pokémon fans. So, is it really possible that Arceus was once called Sinnoh?

Pokémon Legends: Arceus – Sinnoh Is The Creator Of Hisui

The latest trailer for Pokémon Legends: Arceus recently appeared on The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel. This trailer introduced the Diamond Clan and the Pearl Clan, who are the current residents of the Hisui region. The Diamond Clan is led by Adaman, and the Pearl Clan is led by Irida. In the trailer, both Adaman and Irida refer to a being called the “Almighty Sinnoh,” in the same way someone might refer to a god. Irida also refers to Sinnoh as the creator of the Hisui region.

The characters in the Sinnoh region claim that Arceus was the creator of the region in the past. This suggests that Arceus might have been known by a different name before. It’s possible that no one had encountered Arceus at this point and that Sinnoh was just a name given to the unknown creator deity of Pokémon. Once Arceus finally shows up, the Hisui region might be renamed in honor of its appearance. The title of Pokémon Legends: Arceus could be referring to how Arceus was still just a legend at this point in time, and the events of the game involve his first interactions with the residents of the Hisui region.
