Nintendo’s holiday season has started off with a bang, as the official Pokémon Twitter account has revealed that Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee have sold a combined three million sales within their first week of release.
Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee have broken the record for being the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game, beating the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.
A combined three million sales mean that the Let’s Go games are currently the fifth best-selling titles on the Nintendo Switch, having already usurped the place of 1-2 Switch.
The Let’s Go games will need to sell over 7.47 million units in order to beat Splatoon 2, which is looking like an accomplishable goal right about now.
The top three best-selling Nintendo Switch games are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (10.28 million units), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (11.71 million units), and Super Mario Odyssey (12.17 million), which means that the Let’s Go games have a ways to go before they become the best-selling games on the system.
There is also the impending release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which is shaping up to be another huge hit for the Nintendo Switch.
There is no denying that Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee have had an amazing start, especially with all of the criticism from the hardcore fans of the series who feel that Let’s Go’s connection to Pokémon Go is somehow diminishing the quality of the series.

The connection to Pokémon Go may be the thing that helps the Let’s Go games become the best-selling games on the Nintendo Switch, as Pokémon Go still has a massive audience who may be attracted to the Switch by the prospect of being able to use their Pokémon in an actual Pokémon game.
If even a small percentage of Pokémon Go’s audience buys a Nintendo Switch for the Let’s Go games, then Nintendo is going to have an amazing holiday season in 2018. It’s possible that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate may be eclipsed by the game that gives people another journey through the Kanto region.
