In the Pokemon video game series, Pokemon can evolve in a number of different ways. While most Pokemon evolve by leveling up, others only evolve by trading or using evolution stones on them. In fact, some of the best and rarest Pokemon in the recently released Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee can only be obtained by using evolution stones, with one of the most elusive stones being the Moon Stone.

To get a Moon Stone in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee, players need to visit Mt. Moon, which is located between Pewter City and Cerulean City. This means that players won’t be able to get a Moon Stone in the game until after they beat the first gym leader, so they won’t be able to get the evolved forms of at least four different Pokemon until then.

Upon arriving at Mt. Moon, players will want to search the craters on the ground for Moon Stones. The player character’s partner Pokemon, whether that be Pikachu or Eevee, will wag their tail whenever one of these craters hold a hidden item. Players can then search for the item, though keep in mind that it may be something besides a Moon Stone and it could take awhile to actually find one.

Moon Stones will respawn in Mt. Moon once every day (real world time), so players will have to return to the cave a few times if they want to get all of the Pokemon.

Here are all the Pokemon players can evolve with a Moon Stone in Pokemon Let’s Go:

  • Clefairy to Clefable
  • Jigglypuff to Wigglytuff
  • Nidorina to Nidoqueen
  • Nidorino to Nidoking

Besides the Moon Stone, there are five other evolution stones in the game. Most of them are stones that players should remember from the original Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow, but there are new stones as well, like the Ice Stone. The Ice Stone is actually used to evolve some of the Alolan Pokemon in Pokemon Let’s Go, with Alolan Vuplix evolving into Alolan Ninetails with it and Alolan Sandshrew evolving into Alolan Sandslash.

Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee are out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
