Pokémon Masters Is Topping App Store Charts Despite Server And Microtransaction Issues

Despite server issues preventing most people from playing Pokémon Masters, it clearly isn’t slowing down the game’s early success.

Ever since the release of Pokémon GO, whenever a new Pokémon game arrives, those of us who are fans of the franchise go into a state of panic. That is currently being demonstrated via the release of Pokémon Masters. The mobile game was released on iOS and Android a day early, but if you have managed to play it, you’re one of a lucky few.

That’s due to the fact the game’s servers were incredibly jammed up the last time we checked. Most players are being greeted with an error message, which takes us back to the very first days of the aforementioned Pokémon GO. Despite these issues, Pokémon Masters has still managed to dominate the app store charts just 24 hours into its lifetime.

The game is sitting at number one in the Apple store’s free chart right now. What’s even more impressive is that the players who have managed to give the game a whirl don’t seem at all phased by its controversial microtransactions. According to App Annie, despite Pokémon Masters being free to download, it was the 12th highest-grossing app on August 29,2019.

For those of you unfamiliar or on the fence about Pokémon Masters, let us give you a quick refresher. The player is the star of the show and one half of a sync pair. The other half of that pair is your trusty Pokémon. You will be tasked with traveling around and teaming with and battling against various other sync pairs. Some of them will be familiar to long-time Pokémon fans, such as Misty and her Starmie or Brock with his Onix.

If that has convinced you to give Pokémon Masters a try, don’t be disheartened if you can’t play it right away. The servers will be fixed, the hype will die down, and it will be as if this initial traffic and the issues that have come along with it never even happened. That being said, judging by the success Pokémon Masters is already enjoying, developer DeNA probably isn’t the bothered about the complaints thus far.
