The Official Pokémon YouTube channel live-streamed a Pokémon Presents on August 18, which shared an extensive amount of information regarding new games and events coming to a variety of Pokémon properties. The announcement session, which lasted for just under twenty-eight minutes, answered many questions fans had regarding these titles, especially Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and Legends: Arceus.

However, it also left certain questions unanswered and introduced several new ones. With the projected release dates of some of these titles approaching quickly, fans are uncertain if their questions will be answered by more trailers, or if they will have to wait until the games are released to find out for themselves.

10 How Often Will New Pokémon Get Released? (Pokémon Unite)

The Pokémon Presents led off with information regarding Pokémon Unite, which has been available on the Switch console for over a month and is getting a mobile release on September 22. The live stream announced the addition of two new Pokémon to the game: Mamoswine and Sylveon.

The release dates for these two were not revealed, but they are likely to coincide closely with the mobile release. New Pokémon introductions have been fairly inconsistent timing-wise since the game’s release, so the timing of future Pokémon entering the game is also uncertain.

If a rare statue of a certain type is placed in a player’s base, it is unclear if the resulting Hideaway Pokémon will also be rare or will be the same as if a common statue has been placed. Whichever case is true, the Hideaway system seems to be a feature for which fans are thoroughly excited.

8 Will Legends: Arceus Be Referenced? (Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl)

With Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl initially being announced during the same session as Legends: Arceus, it is difficult to ignore one when talking about the other. As they also take place in the same geographical location, albeit with different names, these two games are tied together in more ways than one.

This makes it possible that the events of Legends: Arceus could be referenced in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Since the adventure in the Hisui region involves Arceus, the Mythical Pokémon first introduced in Generation 4, there is potential that the story of Legends: Arceus could somehow be incorporated into the lore of the creature in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.

7 Will the National Pokédex Be Available? (Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl)

One of the most beloved parts of the Generation 4 Sinnoh games is the National Pokédex, which can be obtained in the post-game. It allows the player to catalog every Pokémon from previous generations into one coherent system. After the controversial decision to not include the National Pokédex in Generation 8, fans are uncertain if the Sinnoh remakes will have this feature.

If it was to be implemented, it would likely include Pokémon from all 8 generations, which could be a significant load on the game. If Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl can do so, however, fans would surely be pleased.

The way Giratina is encountered in the original Diamond & Pearl is quite different from Platinum, which features the Legendary as a part of the main story. Although Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are remakes of the former two, certain elements from Platinum, including Pokémon that could only be caught in Platinum, are included in the new games’ trailer.

This means that other features from Platinum may be included in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Whether Giratina will be heavily featured, or will only be a post-game aspect as it was in Diamond & Pearl, remains unanswered at this point.

5 How Will Mythical Pokémon Be Introduced? (Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl)

In the original Diamond & Pearl games, certain Mythical Pokémon could only be acquired after the player attended special in-person events. This made obtaining them incredibly difficult and inaccessible to the majority of players.

The official Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl website discloses that the Mythical Pokémon Manaphy can be obtained via Mystery Gift for a few months after the game’s launch, which means Phione can also be easily acquired. However, the distribution methods of other Mythicals are currently unknown, but will most likely be more accessible than they previously were.

4 Are There Any Other Trainers? (Legends: Arceus)

The main plot of Legends: Arceus is to assemble the region’s first Pokédex, which means that trainers may not exist at all at the time of the game. Since battles with NPCs are a core part of most Pokémon games, however, they could potentially show up in some way.

With the emphasis on exploring the wilderness, it is unlikely that battles between trainers would be heavily featured, if at all. However, there is a possibility that certain characters from the Galaxy Expedition Team may have Pokémon of their own, which could lead to a few Pokémon battles in the story.

The new format for this Pokémon game opens the door for more Legends-style games to be released in the future. Although The Pokémon Company may wait to see the reception to Legends: Arceus before any more plans are made, there are many Mythical Pokémon with rich histories that would lend themselves well to a game in this style.

If the company is aware of this, there may be some hints to other regions and other Mythicals present in the game. Adding more Legends content is one of many ideas for future games in the series, so the franchise will be able to continue with interesting projects for years to come.

One of the most surprising factors of the Legends: Arceus trailer is the introduction of new Hisuian forms. A relatively new feature that has become the norm for Pokémon, regional variants are incredibly popular among fans.

While the trailer shows two new forms, as well as two new evolutions to Pokémon that could previously not evolve, it is unclear if this is the extent of new additions to the game. There are plenty of Pokémon that deserve regional forms, so fans would be happy to see more variants introduced in Legends: Arceus.

One aspect of the game featured in the announcement is research levels, which can be increased through different types of Pokémon documentation. The impact of the research level system is unclear at this point, but it will likely play a large factor in progressing through the game.

There is also the possibility, though, that this is only meant to be a goal for players to achieve, without any in-game consequences. In any case, research levels appear to be an enjoyable feature that will encourage players to complete the Pokédex.
