Rather than using a QR code, like has been done before with giveaways like that of the mythical Pokémon Magearna, the distrubution event for Latiosite, Latiasite, Altarianite, and Ampharosite works like the one for Marshadow, with it being tackled via a download code for a Mystery Gift.

When does the Latiosite, Latiasite, Altarianite, and Ampharosite Mega Stone giveaway end?
We finally have an end date for the giveaways now, and it’s a little closer than we thought. All of the Mega Stone codes will stop working at 23.59 UTC on October 31st, 2017.
While the codes are live, we suggest you download the Mega Stones as soon as possible – because the Mega Evolutions for Latios, Latias, Altaria and Ampharos are definitely worth having access to anyway.

In this case, Altarianite, Ampharosite, Latiosite, and Latiasite were first made available to players back in August, if you took part in the Weakness Cup Battle competition during July.
This is essentially the format for all of the Mega Stones: entrants into specific tournaments like the Kanto X Alola Regional Rumble Competition, or the monthly Championships, will receive downloads for the stones soon after, and those Mega Stones will then be made available to all players via download code about a month later.
