Pokemon Sword and Shield Destiny Knot Location and Breeding

While there are a variety of ways to fine-tune Pokemon in Pokemon Sword and Shield, the best method for obtaining competitively-viable Pocket Monsters is to breed them. Indeed, breeding allows players to create Pokemon with perfect natures and IVs consistently, though it does take some effort. Before a fan can breed perfect Pokemon, though, they will need to get Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Destiny Knot, as this item plays a central role in the process.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Destiny Knot Location

To get a Destiny Knot in Pokemon Sword and Shield, players must first finish the main story and earn 10 Battle Points by competing at the Battle Tower. With these points earned, fans should then head to the Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke and speak with the NPC that stands against the right-most wall. This NPC will have a number of items available, once of which is the Destiny Knot.

That said, before a player starts incorporating the Destiny Knot into their breeding in Pokemon Sword and Shield, they should do the following:

At this point, players should have a perfect-natured version of the Pokemon that they wish to breed, and they can now start using the Destiny Knot in Pokemon Sword and Shield to work toward perfect IVs. This process begins by giving one of the four perfect-IV Dittos from Step 2 the Destiny Knot, giving the perfect-natured Pokemon of interest the Everstone, and breeding them together around five times.

When this first round of breeding is complete, players should look at the IVs of the offspring. More specifically, they should locate an offspring that has better IVs than its parent of the same kind, and that offspring should be swapped with its parent for the next round of breeding. To note, Pokemon Sword and Shield fans should make sure that they transfer the Everstone over to this offspring to maintain its nature into the next generation.

Players should now breed another batch of Pokemon and repeat the process outlined in the preceding paragraph. This should be done until an offspring has all of the Ditto’s perfect IVs, and fans should now turn to the other Dittos that they collected in Step 2. Here, players are looking for a Ditto that has the perfect IVs that the offspring is missing, and those two Pokemon should be bred together after Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Destiny Knot and the Everstone have been reequipped to them.

In time this will result in an offspring with perfect IVs, and players can then move onto giving it EV training in Pokemon Sword and Shield and leveling it up. These mark the final steps in creating the perfect Pokemon, and indeed fans should feel confident as they take their new companion into battle against other trainers.
