Pokemon Sword and Shield Giving Away Rare Item

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are giving away some much sought after evolutionary items, including one very rare one.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, as well as its storage companion Pokemon Home, have been having multiple Mystery Gift events as of late to help build hype and prepare players for the upcoming Isle of Armor DLC. Starting last week, players connected to Pokemon Home can receive the Galarian starters that know their Hidden Abilities, which is the first time that is possible for Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.

Now, players who use Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield’s Mystery Gift function can receive a whole bundle of goodies. This bundle includes a Galarian form Corsola with its Hidden Ability, Cursed Body, and a host of evolution items. In addition to the new Corsola, players will also get a Sweet Apple, Tart Apple, Whipped Dream, Chipped Pot, and a Cracked Pot.

Those last two items can be used to evolve Sinistea into Polteageist. But one of those two items is a bit more rare than the other. Sinistea, the black tea Pokemon, is a ghost type living in a teacup, and just like in real life, some teacups are authentic, and some aren’t. If Sinistea has a sticker of authenticity on its underside, it is known to be in its Antique From, and can only evolve using the Chipped Pot. When a Sinistea is lacking a sticker however, it is in a Phony Form and can only evolve using the less valuable Cracked Pot. The rarity of an authentic Antique Form Sinistea is believed to be anywhere from 1 in 10 to 1 in 100.

The other items are quite useful as well. The Whipped Dream allows the Pokemon Swirlix to evolve into Slurpuff when held. The Sweet Apple allows the apple core Pokemon Applin to evolve into Appletun and is exclusive to Pokemon Sword, while the Tart Apple allows Applin to evolve into Flapple and is exclusive to Pokemon Shield. The Apple’s version exclusivity is another big reason trainers will want to download this mystery gift.

It is possible that more mystery gifts are coming for trainers between now and the Isle of Armor DLC’s release on June 17, so they should be sure to keep an eye out.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now for Nintendo Switch.
