Pokémon Sword and Shield Guide How to Easily Catch Sizzlipede

In Pokémon Sword and Shield, Game Freak has added 81 new Pokémon to the Pokédex. Sizzlipede, who evolves into Centiskorch, is one of these Pokemon. Without the right strategy, catching Sizzlipede can take trainers nearly one hundred encounters before running into one.

Sizzlipede evolves into the Radiator Pokémon, Centiskorch. The Sizzlipede-Centiskroch evolution line is unique because of its type. The Fire and Bug-type are only shared by the powerful Larversta-Volcarona line, and it gives these Pokémon a number of offensive and defensive options. Centiskorch can learn moves like Will-O-Wisp, Knock Off, and Fire Lash which can provide a lot of utility for any kind of team. However, where can trainers find this unique Pokémon? This guide will go over the easiest way to catch this rare Pokémon so players can quickly add them to their team.

Other than Max Raid Battles, trainers can only catch Sizzlipede on Route 3 and cannot catch Centiskorch in the wild. Being on Route 3, there are many players who could have easily missed out on catching this Pokémon early because it only has a 1% encounter rate and not only that, it can only be found as random encounters in the grass denoted by red exclamation points. Sizzlipede does not have an overworld spawn. While a 1% chance seems really low for a new Pokémon this early into the game, especially since there are some powerful Pokémon with 3% encounter rates, there is a way players can increase their chance by 50%!

How to Easily Catch Sizzlipede in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Trying to catch a Sizzlipede can be a painstakingly long process considering its incredibly low encounter rate. However, with this strategy, trainers can run into a Sizzlipede at a crazy 50% chance! The first thing players need to do is catch a Pokémon with the ability Flash Fire. Flash Fire is an ability that makes Pokémon immune to Fire-type attacks and then boosts their Fire moves by 50%. Along with the ability in battle, outside of battle, it will also make trainers encounter wild Fire-type Pokemon at a 50% rate if they are located in the area.

So in order to get a Sizzlipede easily, players need to start by catching a Pokémon with Flash Fire. Luckily for trainers, a Vulpix can be caught pretty early into the game. Growlithe is another option, but it can sometimes carry the ability Intimidate which won’t help with Sizzlipede’s 1% encounter rate. Once trainers have their Flash Fire Vulpix, they need to keep it as the first Pokémon in their party, and it doesn’t even matter whether it has fainted or not. Then go back to Route 3 and wait until a random encounter occurs. Sizzlipede is the only Fire-type Pokémon in the route, so trainers will have a 50% chance of encountering it. Once the battle starts, players should inflict a status on it and use their best Poké Ball to catch it. Sizzlipede will then evolve into Centiskorch at Level 28.
