Pokemon Sword and Shield: Where to Plant Carrot Seeds

There is a lot for players to see and do as they venture through the Crown Tundra in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. This includes a special quest where players will be going after the new Legendary Pokemon, Calyrex.
During Calyrex’s quest, players will eventually get carrot seeds. These seeds can be planted in one of two locations in Pokemon Sword and Shield that aren’t version exclusive. However, only one location can be chosen per playthrough.
The two locations that players can choose between are the Old Cemetery and Snowslide Slope. While this may not seem like a large decision, it will determine which Pokemon a player earns, while losing the chance at another. It will also determine which alternate form Calyrex will have access to after capturing it.
If players plant their carrot seeds in the Old Cemetery, they will have an encounter with Spectrier. Spectrier is a pure ghost-type Legendary Pokemon with Grim Neigh for its ability. Grim Neigh causes the Pokemon with it to increase its special attack by one stage after causing another Pokemon to faint by using a damaging move. This ability works if the Pokemon causes either an enemy or an ally Pokemon to faint as well. If players capture Spectrier, it will fuse with Calyrex to become Shadow Rider Calyrex.
Shadow Rider Calyrex is a dual psychic and ghost-type Pokemon instead of Calyrex’s usual dual psychic and grass-type. It will have the ability known as As One with it essentially giving the Pokemon access to both Grim Neigh and Calyrex’s original ability, Unnerve. Unnerve causes opposing Pokemon to be unable to eat held berries.
If players plant their seeds at Snowslide Slope, they will instead encounter Glastrier. Glastrier is a pure ice-type legendary Pokemon with Chilling Neigh for its ability. This ability is essentially the same as Grim Neigh, but it increases physical attack instead of special attack upon causing other Pokemon to faint. If players capture Glastrier, it will fuse with Calyrex and become Ice Rider Calyrex.
Ice Rider Calyrex is a dual psychic and ice-type Pokemon with the ability As One. However, Ice Rider Calyrex’s As One ability functions differently from Shadow Rider Calyrex’s As One ability. The Ice Rider form of the ability instead combines Unnerve with Chilling Neigh instead of Grim Neigh.
It may be difficult for some players to decide which place to choose. However, it may help to know that Ice Rider Calyrex has far more weaknesses than Shadow Rider Calyrex. Ice Rider Calyrex is weak to rock, bug, ghost, steel, fire, and dark-type moves. Meanwhile, Shadow Rider Calyrex is weak to only ghost and dark-type moves.
