Looking for your Sawk? Here’s where to find one in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

Where Throh is all about judo, Sawk is all about karate, the ancient Japanese martial art (that was heavily influenced by Chinese Kung Fu, but this isn’t going to be a history lesson). Throh likes to… well, throw, while Sawk likes to strike with hands, feet, and elbows. You can see this represented both in the anime as well as in Sawk’s movelist, where punches and kicks are the most frequent words that pop up.

Other fun Sawk facts include that gi actually being Sawk’s skin, which is gross. It’s also patriarchal to call all Sawks “he” because they’re all male. This means that Sawks can’t breed in the biologically understood sense and require a female of another species (or a Ditto) in order to make babies.

But in keeping with Pride month, Sawks can absolutely hook up with other Sawks. Love is love, even in the Pokémon world.

Where To Find Sawk

If you’ve got Pokémon Shield, you’re out of luck. No Sawks will spawn anywhere in the game and the only place to find one is by trading with a certain food stall vendor in Circhester.

If you own Pokémon Sword, you can find Sawks at Route 8, Bridge Field, Giant’s Mirror, Motostoke Outskirts, and Motostoke Riverbank, and in Max Raid Battles in Dusty Bowl, and North Lake Miloch. Expect to spend some time searching as Sawks are extremely rare finds.

How To Evolve Sawk

You can’t. Sawks don’t evolve. They’re perfect just the way they are.

What Sawk Can Do In Battle

As a Fighting-type Pokémon, Sawk is best used for extreme offense. You’re going to want to learn the most powerful moves you can in order to put the hurt on your opponents so bad that they don’t get up.

Sawk’s most powerful move is Close Combat. If you prefer something a little less all-or-nothing, Brick Break is learned at level 35 and has the added benefit of removing barriers like Light Screen and Reflect. Sawk also has access to every punch move in the game, including Ice, Fire, and Thunder Punch, as well as Poison Jab. Choose from any of those moves to fill out Sawk’s coverage and make up for whatever your team lacks.
