Pokémon Sword & Shield How To Find Scyther & Evolve It To Scizor

Pokémon Sword & Shield’s Isle of Armor DLC opened the borders of Galar just a little. Now a new batch of Pokémon, around 100, have permission to enter Generation VIII. Many are walking around the new and improved Wild Area, but there are also some hidden gems. In TheGamer’s Pokédex guide series, we chronicle all the Pokémon and where to find them.

Popular Gen I Bug-type Pokémon Scyther returns in the Isle of Armor DLC. When it evolves into Scizor, it becomes a powerful fighter that remains relevant in competitive battles to this day. If you want to add it to your team, or need some tips on getting a Metal Coat in Galar, read on to learn the secrets of Scyther.

Where To Find Scyther On The Isle Of Armor

Scyther can be found in one part of the Isle of Armor: the Training Lowlands. It flies around above the area and sometimes through the grass.

It also might occasionally pop up in Max Raid Battle at the Fields of Honor, Forest of Focus, Training Lowlands, or Workout Sea.

How To Evolve Scyther Into Scizor

To get a Scizor, you’ll have to trade your Scyther while it holds the Metal Coat item. This means that you’ll have to do a Scyther-for-Scyther trade, or have the other party give your Pokémon back. As such, be sure to trade with a friend or at least someone who also needs a trade back.

You can get a Metal Coat in Stow-on-Side, or from the Digging Duo. At the Isle of Armor, you can find Metal Coats on Challenge Road or make one using the Cram-o-Matic.

What Scizor Does In Battle

Scizor’s best stat is Attack. Its best Ability is Technician, which raises the power of weak moves. This allows it to make use of moves that other Pokémon would turn away from. For instance, Bullet Punch. The Steel-type strike is guaranteed to strike first in most instances, and gets the Technician power-up.

Trainers looking to make use of Scizor can also give it a buff move like Swords Dance or Curse. The idea is to pump up its Attack to the point that Bullet Punch is an actual, serious threat. For a Bug-type move, Bug Bite and X-Scissor are good choices.
