It’s time for a new Pokémon adventure to begin! Pokémon Sword & Shield introduced DLC to the main games with the Expansion Pass, and Isle of Armor is the first half of that. The new content adds an island to explore, battles against higher level foes, and a Legendary Pokémon that can evolve in two different ways. Since this is Pokémon’s first DLC, however, players are going to have questions on how to access this content. We’re here to answer them.

What You Need To Buy To Access Isle Of Armor

Isle of Armor is part of an Expansion Pass DLC, and that means paying extra to access it. You can buy a physical card from Gamestop, Target, and other retailers that sell games. If you prefer the digital route, you can buy the Expansion pass straight from the Nintendo Switch eShop.

However you choose to do it, make sure you buy the right product. Nintendo released two versions of the $30 Expansion Pass – one for Sword and one for Shield. Make sure you get the expansion pass that matches your game so you don’t end up like these people.

How To Get To The Isle Of Armor

The game is pretty upfront about how to travel to the Isle of Armor. As long as you purchased the Expansion Pass and downloaded the latest update, your Trainer will be given an Armor Pass the next time you turn on the game. A notification will inform you of the item and tell you to go to Wedgehurst Station to use it. Just fly to Wedgehurst Station, back in the first town way down south, and speak to the attendant by the door. He’ll get you setup to travel to the Isle of Armor.

Can You Fast Travel To The Isle Of Armor?

You can, but not right away. You need to begin the Isle of Armor storyline by going to Wedgehurst Station and taking the train. Once you’ve done that, and met your rival on the island, fast travel is unlocked. Then you can use the Town Map to freely go back and forth between the island and the Galar mainland using Corviknight Taxi fast travel.
