Another raid weekend event is taking place in Pokémon Sword & Shield featuring an increased chance of finding a shiny Clefable. Pokémon has hosted an assortment of shiny raid events in the past making it easier for trainers to get their hands on a select few rare Pokémon.

Pokémon Sword & Shield’s first shiny raid event was with Magikarp to celebrate the year 2020. The event changed max raids so that Magikarp would appear more frequently, and it also boosted Magikarp’s shiny rate in raids making it extremely easy for players to come by. Similar events have been held since then including one for Wailord and one for Pokémon’s mascot Pikachu. These events allow trainers to easily obtain an otherwise incredibly rare Pokémon, but they only last for a short amount of time.

Late Thursday night, Serebii posted a wild area update announcing that the event had shifted allowing new Pokémon to take the spotlight. The Pokémon featured are Bellosom, Whimsicott, Lilligant, and Clefable. These Pokémon will appear more often in raids, but that’s not all. Clefable also has an increased chance of appearing shiny in max raids during the event. This event is to celebrate the September Seasonal Equinox by highlighting Pokémon who evolve using Sun and Moon Stones. The event started on Thursday and will end on Sunday at 11:59 p.m. local time.

Unlike the recent Pikachu and Wailord shiny entries in raid events, the Clefable has a high change of capture. If you host, you’re guaranteed, if you join you have a very high chance of capture. So yeah, this one is easier to get https://t.co/HLHqGvDdGB

These events are special as shiny Pokémon are normally incredibly rare. Every Pokémon has a shiny version of itself which is simply a different color variant. Shiny forms are hard to come by as they have a standard encounter rate of 1 in 4,096. There are plenty of methods of raising this rate, but raid events are by far the easiest way to obtain a shiny. These events increase the odds from a .02% encounter rate to a 2% encounter rate for the specified shiny Pokémon. Joe Merrick, who runs Serebii, stated that the catch rate for Clefable is also increased so players will have an easier time catching one if it appears.

While these events tend to devalue a shiny Pokémon, it is nice to give every trainer an opportunity to catch one. Some shiny hunters will go for months hunting for the same Pokémon, which is a task many do not have the patience for. For those who have always wanted a shiny Pokémon from the moon, hop into Pokémon Sword & Shield this weekend and queue up in some Clefable raids.
