There have been many changes and new features introduced to the world of Pokémon through Sword & Shield. Many of those new features reward players with Pokémon XP, evolution items, and more for various tasks.

Galar’s Wild Area is littered with Dynamax Dens, which reward XP and various training items, among other things. When the Pokémon in players’ parties tire, trainers can now set up camp to cook and play with their Pokémon to gain more training rewards. However, party Pokémon aren’t the only ones who can reap XP rewards anymore. With the introduction of Poké Jobs, stored Pokémon can also boost stats and level up.

Getting the Job Done

Trainers can find Poké Jobs by accessing the Rotomi stationed in every Pokémon Center. By selecting “Poké Jobs,” trainers will be taken to a list of available jobs. Some require specific Pokémon types, while others seem more lenient, requesting any Pokémon able to accomplish certain tasks. It’s not very clear what qualifies or disqualifies Pokémon in the latter case, however.

Hammerlocke University also posts special Poké Jobs (or seminars), which are labeled as “Always Recruiting.” These seminars allow trainers to focus on the individual stats of the Pokémon they choose to enroll and don’t have any requirements, welcoming any and all applicants.

The length of Poké Jobs vary pretty extensively. They range from “Just a Little,” referring to an hour, to a “Whole Day.” Each job lists a number of Pokémon needed for the task and trainers may select up to that number to send out.

Poké Jobs also list a reward category to signify what boosts Pokémon will earn by completing them. The jobs that award experience for leveling up display a star ranking next to the reward category. Recalling Pokémon from jobs early doesn’t award them with anything, as Pokémon will return without a single boost gained and the job will disappear from the Poké Job roster. Luckily, if there is a need to recall your Pokémon prematurely, players don’t have to worry, as new job postings appear on the Rotomi every day.

Reaping the Rewards

Loads of XP can be earned through Poké Jobs. Greater rewards are earned for matching the type requirements, completing longer jobs, and sending more pokémon. Depending on these factors, rewards can rake in anywhere from 1,000 up to 10,000 experience points in one go. Those hefty rewards are what you can expect after sending Pokémon out on a Whole Day’s worth of work.

Hammerlocke University seminars reward HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed, respectively. The corresponding rewards are apparent through the seminar titles and are also listed below the info for the Poké Job itself.

As an added bonus, Pokémon can also pick up items while they are working and bring them back to you. The value of these gifts seems to be based on how well the Poké Job was executed, with rewards ranging from various Poké Balls to Evolution Stones.

Rewards may also be based on how many Pokémon are sent on a given job. The tutorial states that good things will start happening by sending loads of Pokémon on tons of jobs. One of the first bonuses seems to include more Poké Jobs popping up on the Rotomi.

Helpful Tips

• Check all available jobs and take stock of available Pokémon before sending more Pokémon out on jobs. Dual-type Pokémon can accommodate two different type-specific jobs, so think about strategically sending them out to ensure that enough Pokémon are sent to each available job. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck waiting for Pokémon to return before being able to accept another job.
• Don’t select Pokémon that don’t meet the job’s type requirement just for the sake of filling the quota. This can hurt the Pokémon’s earnings.
• If there aren’t enough Pokémon that meet the specified requirements, trainers may send out less by hitting the B button after making their selection.
• When sending frequently battled Pokémon on jobs, be sure to set a length in which their use in battle won’t be required.
• Items collected by Pokémon while out on jobs are already proving to be an efficient method of obtaining evolutionary items, namely multiple of the same Stone to evolve several of the same-type Pokemon with ease.

Training is More Efficient Than Ever!

All of these new features awarding experience for simple tasks are cutting down on the training grind more than ever. Players no longer have to solely rely on battles and Exp. Share anymore, as even setting up camp has its benefits and now idol Pokémon can still grow too.

Now that you have a better understanding of Poké Jobs, be sure to send those box-dwelling Pokémon off to earn hefty rewards and some exercise while they’re at it.
