Quick Links

On first look, Aegislash appears to be ideal for a team battler like Pokemon Unite. It’s an actual sword, and fittingly has tons of damage for an All-Rounder. It can be a bit of a glass cannon though, which is weird because its design contains a shield. You can even switch into Shield Forme for more sustain, but it doesn’t really make you that tanky.

However, it more than makes up for this in sustain through its kit, and its lane flexibility is almost unparalleled. This leads to a multitude of build paths, and a rather high skill ceiling. You’ll need to practice if you want to master Aegislash, and it won’t be to everyone’s liking.

When To Pick Aegislash

Aegislash is a good pick for teams in which you’re uncertain of how things will turn out, especially in solo queue where other players are likely to lock in the rock-star roles of Attacker and Speedster before you get a chance to respond.

Choosing your path wisely during the course of a battle will allow you to adapt to your team’s needs. Sometimes you’ll need to play a high-risk-high-reward build, focusing on sheer damage output and critical hits. You can even play a more support-oriented style too, based upon Wide Guard.

We’re going to briefly list two builds here, so that you can choose to adapt on the fly. You’ll want to try to score as much as possible, and Aegislash’s kit can set that up rather well.

Aegislash: All-Rounder Build

The first befits the all-rounder role, is a little more sustain and utility focused, and is effective both in lane and in ganking from the jungle. It’s also ideal for points-scoring, something you’ll likely have to do to make up for your teammates’ deficiencies.

  • Sacred Sword
  • Wide Guard

Sacred Sword is a great tool for disrupting the enemy team, thanks to its knock-up, empowering Aegislash’s boost count, and dealing a decent amount of AoE damage.

This goes well with Wide Guard, a shield that also increases the boost count significantly and pushes enemy Pokemon backwards, and can set up your team for either offence or defence.

For this, you’re going to want to balance your item choices. Score Shield is ideal, as is Buddy Barrier if you find yourself in lane more often than not. Attack Weight seems like the logical choice if you score more, but you can also pick up Muscle Band if you want more damage output.

For your battle item, the tried-and-tested X Attack works, but you may also want the Goal-Getter for a little extra protection when scoring.

Aegislash: Offensive Build

For those who want a more offensive build that can execute low-health enemies, you should focus on items and moves that take advantage of critical hit chance and damage.

  • Shadow Claw
  • Iron Head

The reason for this is the synergy with Shadow Claw, a move that when upgraded ramps up your critical hit chance even further, for all attacks. This short buff, coupled with the gap-closer and shield of Iron Head, can frequently burst down enemies.

This build depends on having the Razor Claw and Scope Lens equipped, as they both increase critical chance and damage considerably, while your third item can be the Muscle Band for full offence or Weakness Policy for more damage when you’re trading with enemies.

X Attack is the perfect battle item for this build.

Aegislash: Stats

Two things to note with Aegislash’s stats are as follows:

  • Where you see two numbers, these refer to Sword Forme and Shield Forme respectively.
  • Attack Damage is a base stat, before any resistances/buffs or weaknesses/debuffs are applied.
