Pokemon x Converse Shoe and Clothing Collection Launches

For those who love Pokemon and a good pair of running shoes, Converse has something cool to show off. Converse just announced a new Pokemon collection of shoes and clothing. However, it is already live and selling out fast. As of this posting, several items have already sold out. Most of the sold out items are for children, so parents must have jumped on the opportunity to pick up a pair of Converse shoes for their kids.

Part of the collection includes a Pikachu design, Meowth and Jigglypuff images, as well as a couple of Poke Ball designs. Alongside those shoe designs, there are also shirts with those same Pokemon designs as well. There are also some t-shirts with the original starter Pokemon of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle alongside Pikachu. Click here to see everything in Converse’s Pokemon collection.

Not only are there those standard designs, there are customizeable ones as well. Converse offers a few different designs that buyers can choose from, with a mix of the aforementioned designs. Pikachu, Meowth, Jigglypuff, and the original starter Pokemon (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle) are some of the most popular Pokemon that many can name if they know about the series.

These Pokemon can be seen in various merchandising for the series, as well as prominently seen in the fighting game series Super Smash Bros., where they appear either as playable characters or summoned onto the field as player assists. It shouldn’t be surprising that these Pokemon along with the Poke Ball were used for a clothing line due to their popularity. Those Pokemon are classic, and are almost guaranteed to move merchandise.

Converse has been in the business of making shoes for a long time, so the well-known company teaming up with Pokemon for a collection makes sense. In addition, a new adjacent marketing campaign for Pokemon makes sense, given that two new releases in the Pokemon series – Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Pokemon Shining Pearl, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus – are releasing close together. It is unknown if that was the idea of releasing a Pokemon collection at this time, but it could be a potential reason. It certainly does help put eyes on the series this close to major releases.

Perhaps the timing of this release is coincidental, and the two have simply decided to pair up and release this particular clothing line at this time. A clothing collection related to Pokemon could have released at any point, but now is as good a time as any.
