Predicting Marvels 7 MCU Movies Releasing Through 2024

Marvel Studios has seven upcoming mystery movies on its slate through 2024, but which MCU movies will take each release date? The incredible success of Marvel Studios’ MCU has allowed Marvel and Disney to have supreme confidence that they can plan years ahead in advance. Their plans and the MCU slate has only become more ambitious in recent years as Marvel Studios increased its production output to make at least four movies each year and multiple shows for Disney+.

Now that Phase 4 is well underway, Marvel Studios is continuing to tease fans with their plans to do even more. While the Disney+ slate is less concrete, fans have so far only seen two of the ten confirmed Phase 4 movies. Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings were both well-received and performed well at the box office. 2021 still has Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home to offer viewers on the big screen, in addition to some more Disney+ shows. This is only the beginning of the upcoming movies Marvel has on the way. 2022 is packed with four highly-anticipated sequels: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in March, Thor: Love and Thunder in May, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in July, and The Marvels in November.

There are only two confirmed MCU movie titles for 2023, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arriving in February and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 releasing in May. Marvel originally had two mystery MCU movies slated for 2023 too, but the slate was expanded recently to include a third untitled MCU production. This makes 2023 the first year to have five MCU movies, as long as the slate doesn’t change. If that weren’t enough, Marvel confirmed four MCU movies in 2024 as well. There are now seven untitled MCU movies on the slate. Since Marvel and Disney didn’t confirm which sequels or new franchises will take these release dates, it’s time to do some predictions of what the MCU’s slate through 2024 will look like.

July 2023 – Blade

Predicting Marvels 7 MCU Movies Releasing Through 2024

When looking at what MCU movie could take the July 2023 release date, Blade is the clear frontrunner at this point. Despite a slow start to Blade’s development, the movie now has Watchmen’s writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour, and Mogul Mowgli’s director Bassam Tariq confirmed. Marvel Studios previously announced that Mahershala Ali will play the MCU’s version of the vampire back in 2019. This makes Blade the only undated MCU movie in development to have a star, writer, and director on board. There have even been reports that production is expected to begin in July 2022. That easily puts Blade in pole position for the July 28, 2023 release date, as it puts the movie on Marvel’s usual production track of starting filming roughly a year before the release date.

October 2023 – Deadpool 3

Predicting Marvels 7 MCU Movies Releasing Through 2024

Although Blade would be a strong contender for a near-Halloween release date like October, the film is out of consideration already in this prediction. This could allow Deadpool 3 to claim the October 6, 2023 release date on Marvel’s slate. Ryan Reynolds is officially returning for the R-rated Deadpool 3, this time in the MCU, and Marvel hired Bob’s Burgers writers Lizzy and Wendy Molyneux to tackle the script with him. Deadpool 3 doesn’t have a director yet, but Feige and Reynolds have said that there’s a good chance it starts filming sometime in 2022. That puts it on the right timeline to get a 2023 release date, and October is the best place for it. Feige says he knows when it will be released too, and unless he plans on waiting until 2024, October 2023 is the best spot for Deadpool 3.

November 2023 – Fantastic 4

Predicting Marvels 7 MCU Movies Releasing Through 2024

Marvel’s mystery November 2023 movie might be a great place for the MCU’s first Fantastic 4 movie to be released. The movie officially has Jon Watts attached to direct after helming all three of Tom Holland’s solo Spider-Man movies. While he could already be doing some work on the movie, Marvel Studios isn’t going to rush and risk getting Marvel’s First Family wrong. Spider-Man: No Way Home’s delay to December 2021 means that Watts won’t be able to devote his full attention to Fantastic 4 until 2022. Waiting until November 10, 2023, to release Fantastic 4 ensures Watts has enough time to prep the movie and cast Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm before production needs to start. Although most have expected Fantastic 4 to get a prime summer release date, this 2023 date would allow it to be a major release in theaters right before Thanksgiving, making it a strong contender for a movie that families will go see during the holiday.

February 2024 – Captain America 4

Predicting Marvels 7 MCU Movies Releasing Through 2024

Marvel Studios’ fast progress on Captain America 4 should mean that the movie comes sooner than later, and that means a February 2024 release date in this prediction. Anthony Mackie is officially returning to play Sam Wilson’s Captain America in the movie, but Captain America 4 doesn’t have a director yet. It was announced the day The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s finale aired, with head writer Malcolm Spellman and staff writer Dalan Musson tackling the script for the movie. Captain America 4 releasing on February 16, 2024, would also mean that it could follow in Black Panther’s footsteps and arrive during Black History Month. Based on how the rest of the slate plays out, this could even be a movie that assembles the Dark Avengers or Thunderbolts on the big screen too.

May 2024 – A-Force

Predicting Marvels 7 MCU Movies Releasing Through 2024

Marvel Studios won’t wait forever to make another true team-up movie and release it in May, and A-Force arriving in 2024 is a strong possibility. Team-up movies like Dark Avengers, Thunderbolts, or Young Avengers could be better suited as Disney+ releases, but the assembling of the MCU’s biggest female heroes will definitely happen on the big screen. Marvel hasn’t confirmed that an A-Force movie is in development yet, though. If it does happen, the film’s event nature could see Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany), Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), Shuri (Letitia Wright), and Ironheart (Dominique Thorne) fight side-by-side, among others. A May 3, 2024 release date for A-Force would currently give Marvel Studios a few more months before it needs to enter active development to find a writer and director.

July 2024 – Shang-Chi 2

Predicting Marvels 7 MCU Movies Releasing Through 2024

Following the massive success of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ release, it’s not too early to start thinking about when the sequel will arrive. Marvel’s July 2024 slot seems like a perfect spot for Shang-Chi 2. The sequel could up the ante by bringing in Fin Fang Foom or introducing the MCU’s version of Iron Fist. It should also continue to focus on the relationship between Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) and Xialing (Meng’er Zhang), while also bringing back the Ten Rings organization. This gives Marvel Studios two years to plan out the movie, write the script, sign deals with director Destin Daniel Cretton and others to return, and prep the production. The three-year turnaround time is fairly standard for MCU sequels, too, especially when they are for movies that are big hits. Shang-Chi 2 releasing on July 26, 2024, gives it a better release window as it will arrive at the end of the summer season.

November 2024 – Captain Britain

One of the new heroes the MCU is sure to introduce before too long is Captain Britain, and rumors have spread for a few years now that a solo movie could be made. Rumors have swirled that Henry Cavill met with Marvel about the role of Brian Braddock, but that’s unconfirmed speculation. Still, Captain Britain is a possible contender to take the November 8, 2024 release date. Avengers: Endgame included a mention of Captain Britain, and the Captain Britain movie could even connect to the MCU’s sprawling plans for the multiverse. The comics introduced the idea of the Captain Britain Corps as a multiversal group of various versions of Captain Britain. This could be included in a Captain Britain movie and be a way for Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter from Marvel’s What If…? to make the jump to live-action. Even if the multiverse aspect isn’t included, adding a hero based in the UK opens up a new corner of the world that the MCU hasn’t really explored.
