What a long, strange trip it’s been since PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS first launched in 2017, and now it is time to celebrate the sale of over 70 million units. PUBG Corporation announced yesterday that in commemoration of this milestone, the Season 8 update will bring players back to the jungles of Sanhok.

The well-known jungle-themed map is a fan favorite, but has now become an overgrown abandoned paradise. Sanhok has been remastered to look better than ever before, while also being far deadlier. Season 8 will launch on PC through Steam on July 22, while console and Stadia users will need to wait a bit longer until July 30.

This is no light remaster – players will find that virtually everything in Sanhok has been built once again from the ground up, including trees, rocks, structures, and more. There are also several changes that have been made as a direct result of analyzing data and player feedback. In some cases, this is a mere redesign, and in others it can be considered an upgrade. Places like Boot Camp, Ruins, Pai Nan, Khao, and Quarry all have significant updates to explore.

In addition, there is also much more to explore and discover. Players who take the time to look can find new locations and hidden gems all around the island. Some of these include the new tourist town “Getaway,” and bootcamp “Airfield.”

Update 8.1 also brings new features to the game. The Loot Truck is an exciting example, with vehicles set to drive the roads of Sanhok as autonomous cargo transports. Dealing damage to these vehicles will force them to drop some loot, while destroying it completely will provide a cache of powerful weapons for an entire squad.

Confiscated Weapons are another new feature being introduced. Weapons found from the Loot Truck will be fully customized, and for the first time, players will find that these come with pre-installed attachments and unique skins.

A new ranked season also awaits players looking to dominate the competitive field. In this season, Ranked Point acquisition will now also consider team placement. In addition, Vikendi has been added to the ranked map pool.

The last new feature is the Survivor Pass, which will give players several new skins to be earned while exploring the remastered jungle of Sanhok.

Best of luck to everyone in this new season, and we will see you all in the jungle!
