LGBTQ+ cult classic The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories is getting a gorgeous physical special edition.

Nobody expected a horror puzzle platformer about a lesbian couple exploring their relationship to become a cult classic, but here we are over a year later about to celebrate the imminent release of a physical special edition of The Missing. In much the same way music albums now get vinyl releases, previously digital-only video games now get physical releases.

The physical release arrives January 31st courtesy of LimitedRunGames.com. It’s only for the Switch, so PS4, Steam, and Xbox One owners are missing out.

It’s called the Collector’s Edition, which means it comes with a bunch of cool stuff that’s found in-game. That stuff includes an F.K. plush toy, JJ’s preferred non-human sleeping companion, as well as a Sleepy Donut stress toy, which mirrors the same donuts you find in-game to unlock more of JJ’s backstory.

There’s also some Sleepy Donut 3D magnets and a sticker sheet for those that still have refrigerators and notebooks. Best of all, the whole thing comes in a beautiful box with the cover art from the game. Inside is a Switch jewel box that also features the same art.

The Missing Collector’s Edition arrives on January 31st for $79.99.

In case you’ve never even heard of The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories, the game puts you in control of JJ Macfield as you search for your lost love, Emily. The two of you go to an island on a camping trip when Emily mysteriously disappears. Then JJ gets struck by lightning, but rather than die, she gains the awesome power of immortality. You then go through the game using your undying abilities to solve puzzles, discover the mysteries of your past, and eventually reunite with Emily.

I haven’t played the game, but Kotaku did, and here’s how they described it: “The game’s puzzles involve grievously injuring yourself in order to proceed, from weighing down a platform with your severed torso or lighting yourself on fire to see in a dark tunnel.”

Yeesh.
