Sure you have your Witchers and your Uncharted’s, your Halo’s and your Portals — but there’s nothing better than an underrated classic. A hidden gem that you and a smaller gaming community can hold dear to yourselves acknowledging at every chance you get just how underrated the game is.

It’s like a well kept secret between two friends, and those are always the best kind. Thankfully in this booming gaming industry where we now have games about dating pigeons and stealthy, overly obnoxious geese, the sky has truly become the limit for hidden gems. Ten truly isn’t enough to cover the treasure trove of underrated games this decade, but here’s our favorites.

9 DJ Hero 2

Ranking The Generation The 9 Most Underrated Video Games from 2010 to 2019

Nope, you’re reading that right — DJ Hero 2 — and for good reason, we swear. Sure everyone knows Guitar Hero was the bees knees at one point, and no doubt has at least one version you enjoyed. But DJ Hero 2 is just as good as the highest of highs that GH once reached. Also, hand on the bible, the music is so good!

As soon as you learn the controls — which seems daunting — but is really easy you’re going to be bopping your head and shaking your hips. Don’t believe me? Look up the music, or better yet check out DJ Hero 2’s version of “Through The Fire and Flames.”

8 Jack Box Party Packs

Ranking The Generation The 9 Most Underrated Video Games from 2010 to 2019

The Jackbox video games are some of the best multiplayer games ever, end of story. There’s so much competitive fun to be had here that I honestly could compare it to the amount of enjoyment I’ve had in any “serious” multiplayer game.

Not only that, but they’re also extremely accessible to people who typically aren’t interested in video games. Essentially what you get in any Jackbox Party pack are games that you, you’re friends and even your grandparents can have a crazy amount of fun in — all at the same time too. And we haven’t even gotten to the best, best part, only one person has to own it for everyone to play, even for online.

7 The Wolf Among Us

Ranking The Generation The 9 Most Underrated Video Games from 2010 to 2019

Somehow Telltale Games found a way to milk their formulaic games more than companies like EA, Activision and Ubisoft. So much so that they went out of business in 2018, but they left more than a few great games behind. Walking Dead, Batman, Tales From The Borderlands (which narrowly missed this spot) and my personal favorite The Wolf Among Us.

Adult fairy-tales were behind overplayed when this game released, but somehow The Wolf Among Us found a way to captivate you with it’s atmosphere and characters. There’s just so many great twists and turns that this has to be a must play if you’re a fan of this genre.

6 Asura’s Wrath

Ranking The Generation The 9 Most Underrated Video Games from 2010 to 2019

Asura’s Wrath is the culmination of every epic anime battle scene — the game. Think God of War 3 if it was anime and you get Asura’s Wrath. The opening scene even feels like God of War 3 when you’re thrown into the thick of action having to take on planet-sized enemies who look more like final bosses.

And from there the game only gets more insane as you play as Asura and seek revenge on the gods who have betrayed you. It’s not for everyone and can sometimes feel cinematic heavy, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit it’s one of the most heart pounding single player experiences of all time.

5 N++

Ranking The Generation The 9 Most Underrated Video Games from 2010 to 2019

The game that you likely played out of boredom during your computer class was slowly but surely turned into a masterpiece of platforming. N++ is underrated as it gets, and depending on who you talk to you might have some quickly discount this game or talk your ear off on how much addicting fun it provides.

Obviously I fall into the latter, because once this game sucks you in it’s over — say goodbye to the sunshine and hello to the feeling of chucking your controller into your television. What really solidifies this as an amazing game though is how much creative content they pack into this thing.

4 Gravity Rush 2

Ranking The Generation The 9 Most Underrated Video Games from 2010 to 2019

If you know about this game you’re my hero. That’s because you were one of the few to play it’s surprisingly delightful predecessor or you picked this game up on a whim, and we’re introduced to one of the best games on the PS4.

Not only is does the art style and the sheer beauty of the world bring tears to my eyes, but the Earth bending gravity mechanics are some of the best in any game, period, end of story. Just imagine playing the new Spider-Man game but as a girl in a futuristic society full of wit and charm. It’s a perfect game, go play it.

3 Furi

Ranking The Generation The 9 Most Underrated Video Games from 2010 to 2019

You know how sometimes you have a game so beautifully designed that you wonder if they hired a professional cinematographer to perfectly curate the scenes — along with boss battles, that’s Furi in a nutshell. Oh wait, I almost forgot the legendary score that is so good you’ll find it on Spotify and keep it on repeat for weeks.

Furi came out of nowhere, and instead of bogging itself down in exposition or a convoluted story you simply play as a swordsman breaking out of prison. To do so you must take on several prison guards in your way in what are some of the best boss battles this decade.

2 Kirby’s Epic Yarn

Ranking The Generation The 9 Most Underrated Video Games from 2010 to 2019

Kirby games were never my thing, before Epic Yarn I knew the lovable pink puffball as that dude from Smash games and Air Ride (another fantastic game by the by). But Epic Yarn looked different and caught my interest from its distinct art style alone.

Thank the stars this is the entry I decided to come in on because this game is a masterpiece. Instead of sucking things up, you whip, swing and do all sorts of creative things with yarn alone. It’s one of those games that feels like you’re a kid again, and that’s no easy task to pull off.

1 Titanfall 2

The first Titanfall was a good concept and poor execution. Mechanically it was tight and the game play was tons of fun, but it’s single player-type mode fell flat and the limited game modes held it back from greatness. Then Titanfall 2 came along, and it was perfect. Everything was improved upon… so what went wrong?

EA, because if there’s one company that can screw over a masterpiece it’s these guys. And releasing an obscure shooter that’s still trying to get it’s footing in between Call of Duty and Battlefield (and several other triple a’s) is the definition of screwing over. At least Reddit showed this game the love it deserves.
