From Dave Bautista as Dominic Torretto to Ryan Gosling as Brian O’Conner, here’s how we’d recast The Fast And The Furious today!

It’s unlikely that The Fast And The Furious would ever get the remake treatment, as it was very of its time and cashed in on the street-racing craze that the world was going through in the early 2000s. It’s that exact reason why there’s no street-racing in the newer movies.

However, trends always come back into fashion, and if boy-racers ever get into tuning up Japanese imports again, chances are we’ll see a remake of the high-octane billion-dollar franchise starter. And these are just the actors who could bring it to life.

9 Sgt. Tanner – Bryan Cranston

With an eclectic background of roles, this one’s more Walter than Hal. There are few other actors who are able to command respect more than Cranston and playing Sgt. Tanner, who is Brian’s communication with the feds while undercover.

He is relatable and gives sound advice, but he’s also stern and knows when to get down to business. Though it’s somewhat of a minor role for an actor of Cranston’s stature, it’s the perfect casting choice.

8 Agent Bilkins – Jeffrey Wright

Another actor who often takes roles of people of great intelligence and ones who think before they speak, Jeffrey Wright is perfect for Agent Bilkins, who is slightly more lenient than Tanner and is able to crack a joke or two.

Having proved that he is perfect for authoritarian roles with Westworld and his upcoming take on Commissioner Gordon in The Batman, this role would be perfect for Wright to combine those talents with the comedy chops he showed in the underrated Game Night.

7 Vince – Michael B. Jordan

There’s no doubt that The Fast And The Furious is aggressively machismo, but the biggest alpha male of the movie, aside from Dom, is Vince, who doesn’t trust Brian one iota.

Covered in tribal tattoos and guzzling Corona, Vince is argumentative and always trying to compete with other men, and as Jordan has a lot of experience with villainous characters and is gigantic, he’d be perfect for the role.

6 Jesse – Evan Peters

Jesse is arguably the meatiest role in the movie, as he’s comedic, he’s a mechanical genius, and he has the most dramatic story arc. He’s also the least aggressive and alpha of the male characters, which makes him the most unique.

Though he’s best known for American Horror Story, he’s had a wealth of other roles that have shown his acting prowess, and given his giddy nature, his ability to play Jesse would be spot on.

5 Johnny Tran – Henry Golding

Golding is still in his infancy in Hollywood, as he first gained recognition in 2018’s Crazy Rich Asians as a charming and insatiably wealthy individual, so his ability to play the movie’s main antagonist may be questionable.

However, what we’ve seen of the actor in the movies since the hit romantic comedy is great, and he was the standout character in this year’s action flick, the Guy Ritchie directed The Gentlemen.

4 Mia – Daisy Ridley

It seems unlikely that Daisy Ridley will ever want to jump into another franchise ever again, given that she’s one of the actors who regretted being in Star Wars, but at least with The Fast And The Furious she won’t receive relentless unwarranted criticism from fans.

Though we don’t know how good her American accent is, the actress would make a great second take on Mia, Dom’s sister, and she could even make the character more three dimensional, as Mia has only ever been a one-note love interest.

3 Dominic Torretto – Dave Bautista

Dave Bautista is bald and huge, so he basically checks every box. But there’s actually a lot more to Dominic Torretto than meets the eye. In the climax of the movie, Vin Diesel delivers one of the movie’s best performances when he finds out that Brian is an undercover cop.

Dom wants to beat Brian mercilessly, but he’s the only one that can help him. Bautista has proved time and again what an underrated dramatic actor he actually is, especially in Blade Runner 2049, one of the actor’s best movies.

2 Letty – Zazie Beetz

Another actor who is fairly new on the scene and is no stranger to franchises, Zazie Beetz has quickly become one of the most bankable actresses in Hollywood after starring in the two highest-grossing R-rated movies of 2019, Deadpool 2 and Joker, where she played Sophie (which is one of the questions we’re still asking about the movie.)

As Letty tends to be fiery and rowdy, and in many ways is one of the most excitable characters, it fits Beetz perfectly.

1 Brian O’Conner – Ryan Gosling

In The Fast And The Furious, Paul Walker’s blue eyes, bleach blonde hair, and dazzling smile stole the hearts of millions, and there are few other young actors who can match that boy-next-door look.

Look no further than Ryan Gosling, as one viewing of Crazy Stupid Love is all the proof anybody needs. But it doesn’t just come down to looks, as Gosling often approaches characters with a meditated and chilled delivery, just like how Paul Walker did it.
