There are two species of bears roaming Red Dead Online; the Grizzly and the Black Bear. But remember to be wary if you’re heading out on a bear hunt, as this isn’t going to be like poaching those lazy farm goats.

Bear Locations

Together Grizzlies and Black Bears primarily inhabit the lands across West Elizabeth and Ambardino. Indigenous to many of the same regions, the two variants do wander exclusively into different territories from time to time, so we’ll cover those exclusivities now.

Grizzly Bear Locations

• Starting in the Tall Tree region, Grizzlies can be found roaming around the Aurora Basin and to the northeast along the Upper Montana River near the eastern border of West Elizabeth.
• Though the most prominent area to hunt bears in the Tall Tree region is Bear Claw. This abandoned camp littered with decaying log cabins lies southwest of the Manzanita Post along the Lower Montana River.
• Heading into West Elizabeth, Grizzlies can also be found along a southern section of Hawk-Eye Creek, west of Riggs station.
• Several good hunting spots lie scattered along both sides of the Little Creek River, but West Elizabeth’s hotspot for bear hunting locations is a stretch of land spanning from north to south along the western border of Wallace Station.
• Naturally, Grizzly Bears are indigenous to both The Grizzlies East and West, though they aren’t overly prominent. In the western range, Barrow Lagoon and a stretch of the Dakota River between Cumberland Falls and Valentine are occasional watering holes.
• One prime hunting location in The Grizzlies is at another section of the Dakota River, where it branches off into the Whinyard Straight at Window Rock.
• Within The Grizzlies East, Grizzly Bears are prominent around O’Creagh’s Run.

Black Bear Locations

• Black Bears aren’t as common of sightings. Still, you can find them in several of the same general locals as Grizzlies, such as west of Wallace Station (possibly a little further out than the Grizzly population) and east of the Aurora Basin.
• Slightly south from the Grizzlies’ stomping ground along the Upper Montana River, a Black Bear can be found in the Tall Trees region West of Blackwater.
• A Black Bear has made its own home away from the Grizzlies, north of the Ownajila pool in Big Valley.
• There is also talk of Black Bears roaming the Bayou Nwa and the more heavily wooded sections of Roanoke Ridge, but these roaming wanderers don’t rest in the shade, so exact hotspots have been hard to pinpoint.
