Wild Carrots are nutritious plants to pick up along your trails in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. You may have noticed both you and your horse’s health cores benefit from the effects of consuming them. And luckily, they grow all over the American West, so grab ‘em when you see ‘em.
If you’re gathering wild carrots simply for quests or task completion purposes, we reckon you’d like to cut through the foraging process and be pointed to the best harvesting grounds. But just hold those horses a second. As root crops, you’re not going to see bright orange veggies sticking out of the ground. Wild Carrot flowers are much more subtle, sitting atop delicate stems with clusters of tiny white petals, so make sure you’re using your Eagle Eye to spot them among the other shrubbery.
Best Wild Carrot Locations
While you can find wild carrots rooted almost anywhere, The Heartlands in New Hanover is the best wild carrot location for a quick harvest in RDO.
New Hanover
- North of Flatneck Station, in the southern fields of The Heartlands, you will find wild carrots growing along with a variety of other vegetation.
- There is another patch of wild carrots northeast of Flatneck Station. Follow the train tracks to where they split north towards Valentine and east toward the Lemoyne border, and you should find some out past the bend created by the conjoining track.
- More carrots grow along the southeasternmost stretch within the Valentine border.
- You can find another wild carrot top sprout just east of Twinstack Pass, below the Heartland Oil Fields.
- Continuing east along the nearby road, you should find a few more sprouts further along off the south side of the path.
- Despite the less than optimal setting, wild carrots manage to beat the odds by sprouting up in the east of the Heartland Oil Fields territory.
West Elizabeth
Outside of New Hanover, the in-game compendium will point you towards northern Lemoyne. You can try your luck foraging the upper region of the Scarlett Meadows. Still, if you’ve gathered every wild carrot New Hanover has to offer, we recommend checking this location in West Elizabeth.
- West of Blackwater in the Great Plains, you can find a patch of wild carrots growing right between where “Great” and “Plains” are written on the map.
