If you haven’t guessed from the fact that every gaming site and section of social media has been taken over by Red Dead Redemption 2 posts, the game is kind of a big deal. But a new figure has been announced that shows just how big a dead the game is. According to the game’s publisher, RDR2 has outsold RDR1 in a matter of days.

The news comes from an earnings call that publisher Take-Two had with investors, says Eurogamer. Take-Two was all to happy to report that Red Dead Redemption 2 outsold it’s predecessor’s entire eight year run in only eight days.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold 17 million copies so far. “To put that in context, that’s more than most video games … sell in their lifetime,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said to Fortune. In its first three days, the game made a whopping $725 million.

Read Dead Online, the game’s online multiplayer mode, was also given a small shoutout during the earnings call. It’s set to launch later this month as a public beta. While information is still scarce, it was said that the mode will be “an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience in the original Red Dead Redemption.” It will also contain both story and competitive missions, making it sound quite a bit like GTA Online.

Those are some tough shoes to fill; GTA Online is a huge moneymaker, and maintained a sizable active player base for a long time. There’s also Fallout 76 launching in a week, promising another huge online world with solo play potential based on a popular franchise. Competition will be stiff, to say the least, and there are concerns that Read Dead Online will cut into GTA Online’s audience.

Strauss Zelnick doesn’t seem to share those concerns. “Every new titles competes against every title,” he told Fortune.

It’s hard not to share his confidence. Given the staggering sales numbers of RDR2, success seems guaranteed for Read Dead Online.
